Eun-Woo Chang, Ph.D. Instructional Dean, Science, Engineering and Mathematics

Montgomery College

For the three years prior to his appointment as the Instructional Dean

of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics at Montgomery College, Dr.

Chang served as a program director in the Division of Undergraduate

Education of the National Science Foundation (NSF). Before joining

NSF, he served as a tenured chemistry professor at Truckee Meadows

Community College in Reno, Nevada for 17 years. During his tenure at

TMCC, Dr. Chang served as Physical Science Department Chair,

Faculty Senate Chair, and as a member of several college-wide and

state-wide leadership committees.

In 2004, he spent a year at College of Southern Nevada (CSN) in Las Vegas as a member of

the 2004-05 class of ACE Fellows, a prestigious leadership cohort selected by the American

Council on Education. In addition, he served as Interim Dean of Mathematics and Sciences at

CSN during the 2005-06 academic year.

Dr. Chang earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Yeungnam University in South Korea, a M.A. in

Chemistry from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the

University of California at Los Angeles. After receiving his doctorate, he completed a

postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Chemistry at Harvard University. In 2010, he was

named an American Chemical Society Fellow, an honor that is bestowed for contributions to

chemistry, the profession and service to the society.

International Activities under the imprimatur of the ACS Committee on

International Activities.

The ACS IC is an online clearinghouse of information on international exchange

programs for high schoolers, undergraduates, graduates, postdocs, faculty, and

professionals from across the globe seeking more information for their

international achievement. The website currently contains information on over

400 unique programs in 16 geographies, sorted across 6 levels of professional

experience.

Sarah Gleisner

Outreach Manager, Boren Awards for International Study

Originally from a small town in Wisconsin, Ms. Gleisner was the first person in her family to attend

college and the first one to get a passport. As a student at the University of Wisconsin at Platteville,

she studied abroad in England for a semester. After graduation, she worked in rural Japan as part of

the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. She completed graduate school at the University

of Illinois and went on to serve in multiple education abroad offices, including the Parkland College

International Center and the University of Illinois Study Abroad Office. Through these experiences,

Ms. Gleisner has advised thousands of students, helping them to design (and fund) international

experiences that will help them to fulfill their personal, academic, and professional goals.

Sarah Grace Gleisner is currently a Program Officer for the Boren

Scholarships and Fellowships, an initiative funded by the National

Security Education Program and administered by the Institute of

International Education. The Boren Awards fund undergraduate and

graduate students to study in world regions critical to the future security

of our nation, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia,

Latin America, and the Middle East. In exchange for funding, recipients

commit to seek work in the federal government for at least one year.
