We hope to continue working with you at future events. We will continue implementing the 7 Habits of Happy Kids within The Leader in Me by Stephen Covey. This month we will focus on habit 2, “Begin with the End in Mind” which simply means to plan ahead and set goals. When setting goals it is important to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of accomplishing your desired goal. It is important to focus on setting goals that are most important to you. When we focus on accomplishing these goals we first use our mental creation like our imagination to visualize them by painting pictures or models in our mind of what our plan is. The physical creation follows the mental creation and allows you to bring your plan to life. Through physical creation you are able to modify and perfect your plan so that you can achieve your desired goal and measure your success. The process of setting goals is important for personal growth. It provides you the opportunity to choose the direction you want to go in life and what you want to achieve. Goal setting gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation. By setting goals and measuring your achievements, you are able to understand what you have achieved and what you are capable of tackling. We encourage all of our parents to set personal goals with your child at home and a method to monitor their progress toward reaching those goals. Explain to your kids that goals do not have to be long, difficult tasks. Allow your kids to choose their own goals and provide plenty of praise or rewards once those goals are met. Flore-Nadeige B. 7 Habits Spotlight

This month’s habit is Begin With the End in Mind! To begin with the end in mind follow these easy steps: -Have a plan. -Set goals. -Do things that have meaning and make a difference. -Remember you are an important part of your classroom. -Look for ways to be a good citizen. If you follow these steps you are on your way to having a successful school year. Remember “Great Habits Make Great Leaders!”

Live with Purpose O n e o f t h e b e s t w a y s t o incorporate Habit 2 into your life is to develop a personal mission statement. Your personal mission statement focuses on what you want to be and do. It is your plan for success. It reaffirms who you are, puts your goals in focus, and moves your ideas into the real world. Your mission statement makes you the leader of your own life. You create your own destiny and secure the future you envision.

“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to

schedule your priorities.” -Stephen Covey

Assistant Principal Corner Mr. Williams’ Wise Words:

Announcements

The Leader In Me gives us 7 habits that we can live by and utilize to make us be as successful as possible. The second habit tells us to Begin with the End in Mind. Beginning with the end in mind means to start each and every task or assignment with a clear vision as to what you want and what you expect the outcome will be. Once you have that in your mind, do all that you can to make it happen. Will it be easy? Sometimes it will not, but you have to keep the end in mind, go back to habit one by being proactive, and do your very best.   One way to keep Habit 2 in your mind is to write down your goal and read it as often as possible. By doing this, you will be able to stay focused, continue to plan, and use all of your abilities to achieve your goal. Start today with a new mindset and Begin with the End in Mind! -Mr. Kevin G. Williams, Assistant Principal
