The Gospel passage this Sunday, however, speaks of Jesus claiming He is the Gate of the Sheep. Is this contradicting the idea of Jesus as Good Shepherd? And how about that time when John the Baptist calls Him the Lamb of God? How can He be the lamb, the shepherd and the gate all at the same time? It is a thought-provoking question, which is profoundly answered when Jesus says: I am the way, the truth and the life. As the sheep gate, Jesus is the only way to the Father. As the good shep- herd, Jesus is the truth whose voice we follow. As the Lamb of God, He takes away the sins of the world so that we may have life and have it more abundantly. Fr. Jonathan

“I am the GATE for the

SHEEP” John 10:7

The Fourth Sunday of Easter is tradi-tionally celebrated as Good Shepherd Sunday. As the good shep-herd, Jesus is the truth whose voice we follow. As the Lamb of God, He takes away the sins of the world so that we may have life and have it more abundantly.
