GEN-3471: General Session: The New Composable Business General Session Mon Apr 28 ( 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. )
Hall B Technologies such as Cloud, Big Data, Social and Mobile are the catalysts for industry and business model
transformation, while opening doors to unprecedented levels of connectedness and engagement with people,
businesses and governments. A digital reinvention is underway, and companies must prepare for the radical
disruption ahead. The traditional approach to business processes, to applications, IT infrastructure, data and
even the workforce will no longer work. It isn't adaptive enough, it isn't secure enough and it sure isn?t fast
enough. A new approach is required that will rapidly connect components together. A "Composable Business" is
a building block approach that allows organizations to quickly overcome the challenges of a digital economy.
Hear from peers at the forefront of this shift and learn why the "Composable Business" will be the business of the
future, what benefits it will bring and how you can Be First to realize your full potential today.

INO-2569: Freedom to Innovate Through SOA & APIs Lecture Mon Apr 28 ( 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. )
Marcello 4405 Innovation is driving the need to be even more interconnected and to combine insight in new ways. Service
Oriented Architecture (SOA) design principles applied to business application programming interfaces (APIs)
give enterprises the freedom to innovate so that new applications can evolve at different speeds than the
services provided by existing systems of record. The new world of APIs and services entails a productivity boom
much greater than the web boom of the previous decade. Join this session to learn how to use SOA and APIs to
unleash innovation.

IAG-2509: Business of Internal APIs, by Kin Lane, The API Evangelist Lecture Tue Apr 29 ( 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. )
Palazzo G The largest area of growth in the last couple years of APIs is internally within the enterprise. There are numerous
lessons that can be extracted from the world of public APIs, and applied internally within any company, helping
increase agility, efficiency, while also helping develop new business lines. When it comes to APIs, the secret to
success isn?t all about technology, and this session will help introduce you to the business of internal APIs,

Matters to an Architecture Lecture Tue Apr 29 ( 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. )
Palazzo P There are many similarities between the design techniques for the new trend of web application programming
interfaces and those that have been maturing for many years for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). Indeed
SOA could be seen as "just" an evolution of traditional integration, but that type of thinking was the beginning of
the end for many SOA initiatives. In this session, presenters focus on the differences - the things that make web
APIs unique from what came before and the differences in how they are designed and implemented. Also, in
recognition that almost no sizable enterprise is starting from scratch, presenters look at how existing integration
architectures should be evolved to accommodate these new requirements.

INO-2804: Cloud Integration Strategies: Delivering ROI that Extends Beyond
the Enterprise Lecture Tue Apr 29 ( 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. )
Delfino 4105 Today's businesses rely on a diverse set of technologies, spanning everything from enterprise systems and
packaged applications to cloud-based services. Effective integration strategies are critical. Rapidly and securely
integrating mobile and web applications with enterprise applications, application programming interfaces,
services, and data within the enterprise and in the cloud requires a best-in-class open cloud architecture (OCA).
The Internet of Things demands the connection of millions of endpoints in the cloud, which requires a best-in-
class open mobile strategy that aligns to this same OCA. Join Dr. Angel Diaz, Vice President of IBM Open
Technology & Performance Solutions, and Gerry Cuomo, IBM WebSphere CTO & IBM Fellow, as they outline
the best-in-class cloud integration strategy to empower today's organizations. This discussion lays out a
roadmap to harness the latest open technology innovations being delivered by today's open cloud communities,

Tue Apr 29 ( 3:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. )
Marcello 4401 A TransWiseway, the leading transportation services provider, is building the largest internet of vehicles platform in
China to provide value-added services. With the API economy trend, it is pursuing a billion dollars in service
revenue per year. But the legacy infrastructure built with open source has its limitation in scalability, flexibility,
and throughput to support new service deployment and millions of connections. IBM and TransWiseway set up
the Joint Innovation Lab for joint solutions, which aims to improve the user stickiness with mobile applications
based on IBM Worklight, support connectivity with more than five million vehicles via IBM MessageSight
appliance, and enable the open platform with IBM API Management. The new commercial platform is now being
built to provide value-added services with a time-to-market benefit. In this session, presenters discuss the joint
platform architecture and best practices using IBM Worklight, IBM MessageSight, and IBM API Management.

Lecture Wed Apr 30 ( 3:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. )
Marcello 4501 B When exposing and managing an application programming interface (API), the internal service/s that are used to
construct and assemble the API may not be suitable to be exposed exactly as-is. This presentation describes
and demonstrates how to easily define an API by assembling existing services and applying transformation logic
to those existing services through configuration rather than coding. It demonstrates how policies can be applied
to APIs such that certain actions will be taken in specific conditions as defined by the policy ? for example, quota
limits and redaction policies. The presentation also demonstrates how custom policies can be written to achieve
specific endpoint routing requirements of the backend service/s.
