Gevgelijan Musical autumn with 4 concerts of classi cal music in December

The last month of 2008 was full of concerts, and other culture events. Only in the frames of the manifestation Gevgelijan Musical Autumn were held 4 concerts of clas-sical music.

On 04.12.2008 Sofija Nikovska –violin & Elena Atanasovska –piano were the first who started the serial of many concerts in Apollonia Hotel. They performed compositions by J.S. Bach, L.van Bee-thoven, J. Brahms, J. Saint– Seans.

On 11.12.2008 Ljupco Cedomirski– clarinet & Dunja Ivanova– piano. Their program was consisted of compositions from C. Saint Saens, F. Poulenc and Lj. Cedomir-ski.

On 27.12.2008 Nina Kostova Jancevska performed compositions from Tchaikovsky.

On 29.12.2008 Christmas Gala concert with famous artists from Skopje, the choir “Gortinija” from Gevgelija, small play from V.Andonovski - directed by Daniela Dzisheva, and very nice and beautiful Christmas pro-gram. This spectacular show was perfect way to end the manifestation Musical Moments for 2008, and to announce the beginning of another year which hopefully will be even richer with culture events.

New year’s piano concert of the children from the class of prof. Ljubica Ulisheva

The children were very active this month. They gave all their best in preparation for a New Year’s show they performed in front of 120 children on different age. They will perform again on the Christmas show that will take place on the 7th of January in Apollonia Hotel at noon. That show will be the end of the Christmas fair for children that Apollonia Foundation is organizing. Games, workshop, origami club, exhibition of the drawings and arts that Nature day children have made, and a lot of fun ...

All this in Apollonia Hotel, every day from 2nd till 4th of January, from 12 till 16 o'clock , and finishing show with lottery for the children who participated in the event. This is the second workshop that is organized for the children and we plan to make it a tradition for every Christmas.

“Recipe for lowliness” - Promotion of the new book from Branislav Dimitrov

On December 18 at 20.00 o’clock in Apollonia Hotel was promoted the new book of the famous Macedonian columnist Bratislav Dimitrov-“Recipe for loneliness”. The public in Gevgelija had the rear opportunity to socialize with the author who made a lot of people wait in front of the kiosks on Tuesday night just to get the new edition of the weekly news-paper Tea in which he wrote his columns. He has written eight plays and a lot of columns first in the newspaper Focus, then ZENA, DNEVNIK, UTRINSKI and TEA. The visitors of this promotion enjoyed in his answers on the questions about his intriguing short stories. He gave autographs to people, who bought his book which was sold by a symbolic price of 100 denars. Everybody warmly welcomed his new book and wished him great success in the years to come, many new books that will keep us awake in the nights.

Nature day — News

December 2008 was month when even the smallest and promising musicians from Gevgelija held New Year’s piano concert. Sixteen children of different ages, from the class of professor Ljubica Ulisheva per-formed in the Gala Res-

taurant of Apollonia Hotel on the 25th of December. “Silent Night” sang and played from such sweet chil-

dren was perfect New Year’s gift for their parents, relatives and the Gevgelian public.

“Those were the times when the neighbor-hood yards were sending smelting breaths sight of rosemary, parsley, mint, box and wallflower… The sky above Skopje was

glowing like… It doesn’t worth it. All is plain talk.”

Concert duo Gelebeshevi Donation to the hospital in Gevgelija

Apollonia always endeavors to be friend with everyone, to help everyone and that’s why very often gives donation to the hospitals to participate in creating better medical care for all.

This month Apollonia gave donation of 110.000 denars for the Cardio department in Gevgelija hospital, which for couple of months is doing a complete renovation. Our donation was for putting new windows and doors in the whole department. This was a very big project for Gavgelija Hospital, they also reno-vated the recovery rooms for the patients, putting separate bathrooms with toilets in every room. This is the first time that the Cardio department is been renovated, since the conditions for treating the patients were very bad. We’re happy that we participated in project of such a big importance, and helped improve the medical care for the Gevgelian people.

Apollonia Foundation believes that good health should be universal, so therefore in 2008 we have given donations to 3 different departments in the Gevgelian Hospital.

The second concert that was held on the night of 25th of De-cember, in Apollonia Hotel, and organized by the Apollonia Foundation was the concert of the choir Koco Racin from Skopje.

This choir is formed in the 1946 in the village Gorno Vranovce. Has won many awards, among them for presenting the Macedo-nian music they have medal of honor for contribution of the people with silver star; the prestige St. Kliment award; 13th November award of the town Skopje; “Feniks” award given by the municipal-ity Centar; “4th of July” award of the Community of fighters and many other tributes.

After the promotion on their first CD in June, the public in Gevgelija had the pressure to hear again this year the pi-ano duo Gelebeshevi on a concert that was held on the 24th of December in Apollonia Hotel.

Katerina Gelebesheva Kostadinovska and Gligor Gelebeshev have been active on the Macedonian scene and abroad for almost 7 years. They perform in all the towns in Macedonia, and the festivals: “Ohrid summer”, “Herakleja evenings”, “Interfest” - Bitola, “Skopje summer”,… They have also had noticeable concerts in Paris (Edmond Michelle hall)-2005 and Novi Sad-2007.

Aljosa Simjanovski—Piano concert Concert of the choir Koco Racin from Skopje

Aljosha Simjanovski - Pianist, composer, film and TV director from Skopje. The Jazz as methodology, - the form as verb, is the basic point of his creative efforts in the field of music and film. On the 18th of December the public in Gevgelija had the pleasure to attend on his Jazz concert , which was held in Apollonia Hotel. On the concert was also projected his short movie from 1994 “My love Charlie Parker”. He has also directed the movies Trap (2007), Pi-kaso (1988) and over 100 documentary movies. This even was supported by Apollonia Foundation.

Apollonia Foundation in 2008 At the beginning of the New Year 2009 we just want to give you a brief review of some of the things that we did in the last year.

Health - 6 donations to people from Gevgelija for individual medical treatments, buying equipment for 3 departments in Gevgelija Hospital, helping doctors to go to seminars and symposiums for improving their medical education.

Education - Buying new toys for the children in the kinder-gartens in Gevgelija (together project with Simon Trpcevski), involving all schools in educational project for environment.

Culture - more than 20 concerts, 7 exhibitions, 3 book pro-motions, 1 Art Commune with 10 artist were held in Apol-lonia Hotel and were supported by Apollonia Foundation. Participation in the project for buying Grand piano for Simon Trpcevski, donation for rebuilding old church in Lesnovo, sponsoring book publishing, giving scholarships to students, supporting “Super Zvezda 2008” Festival for children, and the Jazz festival 2008 in Skopje, supporting the activities of the folklore groups,...

Sport - supporting the activities of the local football club (sponsoring their trip in France), sponsoring the events “Open Fun Football School” and “Set right your mistake”.

Enviorment - every weekend during the whole year organiz-ing Nature Day for all the children from Gevgelija, celebrating Earth day with cleaning action, participating in every environ-mental event organized by the Government.
