Scholastic Book Club - Issue 8The last day for Book Club Online LOOP orders is Friday, 29th November, 2019. Updating School RecordsIt is very important that we have up to date and correct contact details for our students. If you have a new home address, mobile phone number or email address, please contact our school office to update these details as soon as possible. Writing Providing continuous professional learning for teachers in the way they teach writing and improving student writing achievement has been a dedicated school focus these past four years and we are seeing a noticeable improvement across all grades so it’s no surprise that our students are becoming confident and persuasive writers. We thank Mrs Goldstein for re-igniting the “Golden pencil” awards that has resulted in this award being highly sought after. Mrs Goldstein, Miss Lewis and Miss Turhanlar have a very difficult decision before each whole school assembly as to who receives these awards.Gold Award, Aussie of the Month and Ministers Reward for Primary StudentsIt is a great achievement to have attained five Class Awards, three Bronze Awards and two Silver Awards to reach GoldAward status, to be an exemplary all-rounder student who becomes an Aussie of the Month and to tirelessly andresponsibly fulfill the duties of a Student Minister at our school and as a way of saying “congratulations” or “thank you”,a different reward outing is offered each year to these eligible students. This year our deserving Primary students will be going to Jamberoo Water Park on Tuesday, 10th December, 2019. Our Infant award winners will also be rewarded with a Bowling Day on Wednesday, 11th December, 2019. We’re all getting tired! As we are getting towards the end of another successful school year, our students often become quite tired and some even get tired of their friends and find it difficult to speak and act respectively. Please speak to a teacher if your child is involved in any friendship disputes and do not approach another child’s parent or indeed anoth-er child. By the time a parent hears of an incident it has usually been dealt with at school. We are really impressing on our students that they need to treat each other the way they would like to be treated themselves. This is also a reminder to our older students to speak to teachers respectfully and in the manner in which they would like to be spoken back to.

Update from Koolah

I am pleased to inform you that $310 was raised by our school community to help my koala friends. It was heartening to see

students from Kindergarten to Year 6 learning more about the plight of koalas and how they can help others understand the

dangers koalas face. My friends are grateful for your support. The school is planning to make the fundraiser an annual event

which I am especially thankful for.

The funds have been donated to the Wollondilly branch of WIRES to support the care of Ruben who is being cared for by some

local Appinites. Ruben has his own facebook page, which says:

REQUEST FOR ALL SCHOOL MAINTENANCE LOCAL TRADES PROVIDERS AND SUPPLIERSThe NSW Government has committed the largest investment in planned maintenance at public schools in the

history of NSW. A record $1.3 billion is being spent on an ambitious delivery program, focused on employing

local businesses and contractors across the state.

To assist in addressing regional school maintenance issues and at the same time provide work for local trade’s

persons and suppliers across the Greater Western Sydney region encompassing South Western and Western

Sydney, over $100 million is being invested to upgrade and maintain our school infrastructure.

Given this record spend by School Infrastructure NSW, you are invited to an Asset Management Unit industry

breakfast briefing. This will provide information to existing and new contractors on how you can get involved.
