AttendanceRegular attendance at school for every student is essential if students are to achieve their potential, and increase their career and life options. Schools in partnerships with parents are responsible for promoting the regular attendance of stu-dents. While parents are legally responsible for the regular attendance of their children, school staff, as part of their duty of care, record and monitor part and whole day absences. Schools, in providing a caring teaching and learning environment foster students’ sense of wellbeing and belonging to the school community. We ask that parents support our school by ensuring their children who are enrolled at school attend every day the school is open for instruction. We also ask that you provide an explanation for absences by means such as a telephone call, written note, text message or email to the school within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence. Your child’s teacher will also phone if your child is absent without explanation for more than two days. If you are experiencing difficulties encouraging your child to come to school please let your child’s teacher know as soon as possible so support strategies can be put in place. Home School Liaison Officers are also available to assist our school, yourself and your child in daily attendance at school.Parent GuidesThe Gonski Institute has released some guides for parents about supporting your child and their education. The next one focuses on how to help your child grow up in a digital world. We are raising our children in an age of a generational shift. Earlier this year the Royal Children’s Hospital Child Health Poll in Melbourne revealed that 94 percent of teenagers, 36 percent of primary children, and 36 percent of pre-schoolers have their own screen-based device. According to our recent poll, 92 per cent of parents believe that access to smartphones has reduced the time children have for daily physical activity and free outdoor play. This has us very concerned, and working hard to be the catalyst for change in Australian homes and classrooms.https://www.gie.unsw.edu.au/sites/default/files/documents/Parent%20Guide%20How%20to%20help%20your%20child%20grow%20up%20in%20a%20digital%20world.pdfPaymentsAll payments and fees can be paid off in instalments.
