TT455-RT-238, HW5.xWe have invested in a new tool, capable of showing the exact timing of theX10 signals, and we have perfected the signals send out of the XM10 modem. We recommend you update your HW5.x to the latest firmware.

TT455-RT-238, HW6.xWe have added X10 control in the HW6.x, which is controlled by theCM11/CM12 modems. Since the communication with the CM11/CM12 is by RS232and the CM11/CM12 handles all communication on the power lines, the solution isworking perfectly.

We also added our popular “Easy X10” feature, which allows you to make a very fastand easy setup/control of all House codes (A-P) and Addresses (1-16).

The B&O LIGHT commands, controlon, off, dim and bright.

Works very well.

First set the X10 PLC setting in the Memory Map

When you have selected which modemyou want to connect to your TT455-RT-238,then disconnect power to theTT455-RT-238.

When you reconnect power to theTT455-RT-238, the modem will check themains power frequency (50 or 60 Hz).

A quick test, is to open the LOG in theConfigurator.

Then activate an X10 controller. When the modem detects the X10 command onthe mains power line, it will send a command 048 to the computer/configurator.

See next pages.

X10 is a HomeAutomation system sending and receiving:- signals over the existing mains power lines (PLC = Power Line Carrier)- RadioFrequency signals

The signals can be used to turn On/Off the power to your appliances andto adjust the light level of inside and outside lamps/light.

The system offers different type of signal Transmitters and Receivers.

A Transmitter can be a desk-top device connected to the mains, a computer,a remote control or a converter detecting some kind of signal and convertinginto X10 PLC signals.

A typical Transmitter is the Mini-Timer, which can both work as a smart alarm-clockturning on the light in the morning and/or opening curtains, but also offeringrandom control of the light in your absence to make your Home look occupied.

Very powerfull solution

The X10 controllers send X10 signals onto the power line.

The X10 power line signals are detected by the XM10 which send the X10command to the TT455-RT-238.

Both the TT455-RT-238 and the computer can receive information of how yourB&O remote is operated. and how your X10 is operated.

The TT455-RT-238 can convert the B&O signals into IR signals or X10 commandsand convert X10 signals into IR signals.

From the computer you can send commands to control products by theTT455-RT-238’s IR signal og digital outputs (relays).

Also the computer can ask the TT455-RT-238 to send X10 signals.

With the easy-to-use “EASY X10” feature, you have a very powerfull solution.

Page 18: ApplicationNote: X10 LinTronic · 2021. 1. 20. · The X10 power line signals are detected by the XM10 which send the X10 command to the TT455-RT-238. Both the TT455-RT-238 and the

http://lintronic.dk

The TT455-RT-238 HW5.x may be triggered by or control X10 power-line signals.Requires an XM10 or TW523 modem which connects to theback of the TT455-RT-238.

This means you can use X10 signals to control your TT455-RT-238 and henceconvert X10 signals into InfraRed, RS232 og digital outputs.

And you can use your B&O remote to send X10 signals onto the powerlines.

http://lintronic.dk

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR HARDWARE 5 AND X10 XM10Reading X10 signals from the powerlines, is a very timeconsuming process requiring a lot ofresources of the microprocessor, as it must scan the powerlines more than 500 times pr secondin order to detect the signals properly.

Furthermore it must sample about 50 bits and check for correct pattern for the House, Addressand Function codes.

In order to optimize the detection of the B&O remote, we do not want to use resources to scanthe powerlines, if you are not even using X10.

In order for the TT455-RT-238 to determine whether an XM10/TW523 modem is actuallyconnected, the following power-up procedure is required:

1. Insert phone cable into the TT455-RT-2382. Insert phone cable into the XM10/TW5233. Insert XM10/TW523 into the mains power outlet4. Apply power to the TT455-RT-238

The TT455-RT-238 will now measure the mains powerlines frequency:- 50 Hz for Europe (23 vac)- 60 HZ for USA (115 vac)

The TT455-RT-238 will send a command onto the RS232 comport to advise a computer aboutthe frequency detected:

<0001048001050131>

The blue 048 means that an X10 signal is detected. The orange 001 means the data shows the mains power line frequency. The red 050 indicates the carrier frequency (can be 000, 050 or 060).

If the mains powerlines frequency cannot be measured, then the TT455-RT-238 will not spendtime on scanning the power lines for X10 signals, meaning that you will not be able to send orreceiver powerline signals.

Repeat step 1-4, if you later connect an XM10 modem.

PS: As long as TT455-RT-238 is connected to the computer, then the detected X10 signals willbe send to the computer. When TT455-RT-238 is not connected to the computer, then thedetected X10 signal will trigger the memory Map.

NOTE:We recommend you test the EASY X10.

Hardware 6.x and the CM11/CM12, is the recommended solution for X10.

The TT455-RT-238 HW6.x may be triggered by or control X10 power-line signals.Requires a TI103 modem which connects to the RS232 port of the TT455-RT-238.

This means you can use X10 signals to control your TT455-RT-238 and henceconvert X10 signals into InfraRed, RS232 og digital outputs.

And you can use your B&O remote to send X10 signals onto the powerlines.

IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING the TI213 interface

Commands to read from or control the TI213, are send out on the baudrate of theTT455-RT-238.

The default baudrate of the TT455-RT-238 is 19200 bps.The default baudrate of the TI213 is 9600 bps.

So, either you must set the TT455-RT-238 to 9600 bps,or you must set the TI213 to 19200 bps (recommended) as shown below (DIP 8 = ON)

Page 31: ApplicationNote: X10 LinTronic · 2021. 1. 20. · The X10 power line signals are detected by the XM10 which send the X10 command to the TT455-RT-238. Both the TT455-RT-238 and the

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR HARDWARE 6.x AND TI213

Reading X10 signals from the powerlines, is a timeconsuming process requiring someresources of the microprocessor, as it must send out an RS232 command at least once asecond in order to read the TI213.

In order to optimize the detection of the B&O remote, we do not want to use resources to readthe TI213, if you are not even using X10.

In order for the TT455-RT-238 to determine whether a TI213 modem is actually connected, thefollowing power-up procedure is required:

1. Insert custom made RS232 cable into the TT455-RT-2382. Insert custom made RS232 cable into the TI2133. Insert TI213 into the mains power outlet4. Apply power to the TT455-RT-238

After power-up, the TT455-RT-238 will wait 10 seconds before starting to read data from theTI213. This delay period allows you to connect the TT455-RT-238 to the computer and start aconfiguration without the TT455-RT-238 sending out data to the TI213 every second. If theTT455-RT-238 detects the Configurator during the first 10 seconds, it will abort reading theTI213 every second and wait for a new power-up.

After the 10 seconds delay - if no computer is detected - TT455-RT-238 will detect the TI213and send a command to the computer to advise whether a TI213 was detected on comport 1:

<0001048006000131>

The blue 048006 means that a TI213 was tested.The red 000 (000 or 213) indicates whether it was detected (000 = not detected, 213 =detected).

If the TI213 cannot be detected, then the TT455-RT-238 will not spend time scanning for it,meaning that you will not be able to send or receiver powerline signals.

You will still be able to send infrared signals (IR and IRRF).
