This is the proceedings of the conference held in Perth, Australia in October 1988, and contains 110 papers. Considering that this conference was held so soon after that at Scottsdale, U.S.A. (see above), it is remarkable that so many generally excellent papers were presented. The organisers are to be congratulated on putting together such a volume which should prove invaluable to all those involved in the treatment of gold and silver.
