[1] April 2012 THE VOYAGER SCIENCE The students in Science class will learn about weather patterns, including the kinds of patterns that cause strong thunderstorms. Students will also learn to make their own weather forecasts and compare them to the forecasts of meteorologists. MATH Math students are currently working on Ration, Proportion and Percent while Pre-Algebra students are working on Ration, Proportion and Probability. ENGLISH Students are currently studying poetry and will be expected to create a poetry portfolio comprising of original poems as well as compose a poetry slam. Reminders: Vocabulous stories are due on assigned date Vocabulous quizzes are every Monday Reading journals are due every Friday READING The 8 th grade Reading class is studying poetry. Students will compose and analyze a variety of poems as well as apply poetic devices studied in class. LANGUAGE ARTS The 8 th grade Language Arts class is studying Problems with Modifiers as well as the degrees of modifiers (positive, comparative and superlative). OTHER NEWS Promotional Fee: $10.00 Math: Students may return textbooks beginning May 7. Outrigger T-shirts will be distributed first week of May. Math Saturdays Scholars on Apr. 14, Apr. 28, May 12 and May 28 in room 1 from 9 – 10 a.m. .
