LAVID The Digital Video Applications Lab worked

on the last 15 years with research, design and development of digital video applications.

LAVID We have in our Lab a small cable TV

network (head-end and set-top boxes), we have also a connection with BigTV (our city cable TV provider), where we have permission to use a test channel

LAVID We have implemented and tested

interactive digital television applications (virtual cheering, interactive TV journal, Interactive TV School)

LAVID The main results of LAViD were:

The design, specification and implementation of the Ginga middleware,that was adopted by iSDTV (International System for Digital TV), the Brazilian System standard.

The design and implementation of an overlay network of Videoconference, VoD and Live video servers and clients.
