IDENTIFICAÇÃO DO EQUIPAMENTO

Descrição do EquipamentoO micromotor e localizador de Ápice Endus Duo R é um aparelho eletrônico de alta

precisão, moderno e que deve ser utilizado na endodontia para auxiliar em tratamentos de canais. É utilizado para medir o comprimento real do dente - (determina o comprimento de trabalho) - até onde a instrumentação e obturação serão realizadas, afim de que o tratamento endodôntico respeite os limites biológicos da estrutura dental. Combinado com a caneta para instrumentação rotatória permite que o micromotor seja manipulado de várias maneiras, em modo rotatório ou modo recíproco do instrumento.

Princípios e fundamentos aplicados para o funcionamento do produto

Localizador Apical: Entende-se que o dente funciona como um capacitor com acúmulo de cargas elétricas no periodonto e no interior do canal radicular. A dentina funciona como isolante da propagação de corrente elétrica em toda a extensão do canal radicular.

Os localizadores apicais trabalham com o princípio da constância da corrente elétrica entre a mucosa oral e o ligamento periodontal. O método eletrônico toma por base a diferença de condutividade elétrica de um instrumento metálico no interior do canal radicular e a condutividade do tecido periapical. A corrente elétrica existente no canal radicular completaria o circuito no momento em que o eletrodo, lima, tocasse no fluido tecidual, indicando a porção mais apical do canal radicular “o forame apical”.

Micromotor Elétrico: Seu princípio de funcionamento é baseado no campo magnético, que induz o rotor a girar quando uma corrente contínua é aplicada em seus polos.

INSTALAÇÃO DO EQUIPAMENTOO procedimento de instalação é simples. Siga corretamente as etapas abaixo para

instalar corretamente o produto.

- Posicione o equipamento em lugar nivelado e firme.- Conecte o plugue do carregador de bateria na unidade principal - somente para recarga (fig.01).

A bateria já vem instalada, devendo entretanto efetuar sua carga inicial.

- Acople o contra-ângulo no micromotor.- Gire a alavanca no sentido anti-horário (fig.08).- Introduza a broca no orifício e gire até travar no limitador (fig.09).- Ao tocar o limitador com a broca gire a alavanca para o sentido inicial para travar a

broca (fig.10).

broca na guia e gire até travar no limitador (fig. 11). Em seguida pressione o botão da cabeça e desloque a broca até alcançar o fundo do limitador, soltando o botão da cabeça (fig.12).

- Certifique-se de que a broca está encaixada até o fundo para uma correta fixação (fig.13).

OBS: Use brocas de boa qualidade e padronizadas. Brocas com haste muito longa pode produzir vibração excessiva diminuindo a vida útil dos rolamentos.

Conectando e desconectando o contra-ângulo

ConectandoO contra-ângulo pode ser conectado em 6 posições ajustáveis da cabeça. Alinhe os pinos

de posicionamento (A) do contra-ângulo com os entalhes de posicionamento (B) da peça de mão e introduza a cabeça até ouvir um estalido (ver fig.07).

DesconectandoAo remover o contra-ângulo, puxe-o retilineamente (fig.07).

ATENÇÃO Antes de encaixar ou desencaixar o contra-ângulo, desligue o motor.- Verifique se o contra-ângulo está bem encaixado na peça de mão.

- Coloque o clip labial no lábio do paciente e prenda a lima no suporte. Introduza a lima no canal, conforme figura.

Após instalado o equipamento corretamente pressione a tecla POWER para ligar o aparelho, 2 beeps soarão.

- Pressione a tecla MODE e selecione o modo M1.

ADVERTÊNCIAPara garantir uma medição precisa, não se deve continuar o procedimento enquanto não se ouvir os beeps de orientação.

No painel LCD os níveis da escala de comprimento do canal são divididos nas cores amarela, azul e vermelha. Assim que área torna-se visível no ápice do canal a cor amarela piscará, alertando o início da medição.

A escala é dividida em 3 níveis, sendo que cada nível representa 0,1 mm da área do ápice. Os sobressalentes amarelos representam a área estreita do ápice do canal da raiz onde são definidos em cinco níveis e podem ser ajustados.

Pressione a tecla SET, o modo do ápice piscará; a última posição configurada do ápice piscará, ajuste a posição do ápice numa faixa de 0.0 a 1.0 pressionando as teclas “ADJUST+” e “ADJUST-”. Três (3) segundos após o último toque o modo do ápice vai parar de piscar e a configuração estará salva.

Geralmente a área estreita está entre 0.2 e 0.3mm do ápice do canal. Ao iniciar o procedimento o equipamento irá detectar o início da medição.

Ao iniciar o procedimento o equipamento mostrará a distância entre a ponta da lima (A) e o ápice do canal (B), conforme escala abaixo no painel LCD.

Quando atingir o ápice, gire a lima lentamente no sentido anti-horário até que o medidor atinja novamente 0.5 mm. Quando a escala de comprimento da área estreita no Display LCD estiver em 0.5 mm a lima já terá alcançado a posição desejada, ou seja, na área do ápice da raiz. Posicione o stop de borracha na superfície do dente como um ponto de referência para determinar o comprimento de trabalho do canal radicular. Lembrando que assim que a lima alcançar a posição de 2.0 mm do ápice do canal, soará beeps

NOTAS- O comprimento do trabalho no canal varia de caso para caso devido as formas diferentes dos dentes e dos canais das raízes dentárias;- Após o comprimento de trabalho ter sido definido desligue o aparelho e desconecte todos os cabos.

OPERAÇÃO DO EQUIPAMENTOcontínuos.

Após a escala 0.5mm os beeps serão curtos e freqüentes atingindo o nível ideal “APEX”, onde esta palavra ficará piscando no painel, quando a ponta do instrumento atingir o forame.

ATENÇÃO: Se o instrumento ultrapassar o ápice, a palavra “OVER” (que representa a área excedente da área do ápice) ficará piscando acompanhada de beeps intermitentes.

O clip labial pode ser desconectado do instrumento e conectado novamente durante o ciclo de medição, sem afetar o funcionamento. Pode ser trocado por um ou outro mais adequado durante o tratamento do canal radicular ou quando outro canal for medido. Nesses casos o aparelho detecta automaticamente que uma nova medição foi iniciada.

M2:Com a função habilitada ao pressionar o pedal de comando (a) ou o botão (b) na própria peça de mão o motor irá girar no sentido horário. Se, durante o funcionamento, a força atingir o limite pré-definido para o torque, dois beeps soarão e a peça de mão girará automaticamente na direção inversa. Uma vez eliminada a força, a peça de mão volta a girar novamente no sentido inicial horário.Acionando o modo REVERSE, beeps soarão alertando a alteração da rotação, girando-o no sentido anti-horário, ao desacionar e acionar novamente o sentido da rotação volta para o sentido inicial horário (NORMAL).

As limas WaveOne™ e RECIPROC® são especificamente concebidas para a utilização em movimento reciprocante, no qual o instrumento é impulsionado primeiro numa direção de corte e depois o movimento é invertido para soltar o instrumento. Os ângulos oscilatórios são precisos e específicos para o design do instrumento e para o Endus Duo R.

Sistemas de limas oscilatórias

ADVERTÊNCIAS - Siga as instruções do fabricante para a utilização das limas de endodontia.- Não utilize limas próprias para movimento reciprocante em rotação contínua. Risco de fraturas e outros demais problemas clinicos.

NOTAS- Para limas oscilatórias, as configurações, incluindo velocidade e torque, não podem ser ajustadas.- As limas oscilatórias distinguem-se das de rotação contínua pelo seu design especial: A espiral é invertida e o eixo está equipado com um anel de plástico colorido.- No movimento reciprocante, a função auto reverse está desativada.- No movimento reciprocante, ouve-se um som quando a carga se aproxima do valor limite para o torque. Se isto acontecer, não pressione a lima dentro do canal radicular. Retire-a do canal e limpe as estrias.- Se o torque máximo for atingido, o motor parará. Se isto acontecer, retire a lima do canal radicular, limpe as estrias e recomece.- Quando o equipamento estiver conectado ao carregador, se desligará automaticamente (inoperante).Desligamento automático:- O equipamento se desligará automaticamente quando não estiver em uso por mais de 3 minutos. Para ligá-lo novamente, pressione o botão liga/desliga.

ATENÇÃO Aviso de bateria baixa:O Display LCD mostra a carga atual da bateria; quando a escala está cheia, significa que a carga da bateria está completa. Se não há carga suficiente, a escala piscará, significando que a carga da bateria está prestes a terminar. Neste ponto, o beep soará por 3 segundos e o instrumento se desligará após 60 segundos.Para recarregar a bateria completamente você deve conectar o equipamento ao carregador por, no mínimo, 4 horas. (Uma bateria nova precisa ser carregada por 8 horas ou mais.) O sinal estará ligado durante o carregamento da bateria.- A bateria não possui efeito memória e pode ser recarregada mesmo se não estiver completamente descarregada.

- Não utilize limas próprias para rotação contínua em movimento reciprocante. Risco de fraturas e outros demais problemas clinicos.- Quando o equipamento estiver em uso, por favor, não utilize o carregador de bateria para evitar interferência eletromagnética.

- Na necessidade de uma eventual manutenção, utilize somente serviços da Assistência Técnica Autorizada Gnatus.

- O equipamento foi fabricado para suportar operação contínua; - Embora este equipamento tenha sido projetado de acordo com as normas de

compatibilidade eletromagnética, pode, em condições muito extremas, causar interferência com outros equipamentos. Não utilize este equipamento em conjunto com outros dispositivos muito sensíveis a interferência ou com dispositivos que criem altos distúrbios eletromagnéticos.

- Quando a lima toca acidentalmente a parte interna do canal da raiz dentária, o medidor da profundidade de avanço do canal se tornará um pouco anormal, mas, após uns poucos segundos, voltará ao normal automaticamente.

- Não utilize suportes de lima danificados; uma medição precisa não pode ser realizada com um porta-lima danificado.

- Utilize apenas limas e suporte de lima com cabos de plástico. Se a lima tiver um cabo metálico, haverá fuga de corrente quando os dedos tocarem o cabo, o que impedirá uma medição precisa do canal radicular. Mesmo que o cabo da lima seja de plástico, certifique-se de não tocar a parte metálica com os dedos.

- Siga as instruções do fabricante para a utilização das limas de endodontia.- Não utilize limas designadas para rotação contínua em movimento reciprocante.- Não utilize limas designadas para movimento reciprocante em rotação contínua.- A precisão do movimento proporcionado pelo motor só é garantida se utilizar um

Precauções e advertências durante a “limpeza e desinfecção” do equipamento

- Desligue o equipamento quando não estiver em uso por tempo prolongado. - Efetue a limpeza e a desinfecção após a utilização do equipamento, inclusive na primeira

vez que for utilizá-lo.- Não modifique nenhuma parte do equipamento. Não desconecte o cabo ou outras

conexões sem necessidade.- Se não utilizar o aparelho por um período prolongado de tempo, recomendamos que

a bateria seja removida a fim de evitar o extravasamento de fluido. Favor contate seu representante (Gnatus).

- Evite derramar água ou outros líquidos dentro do equipamento, o que poderia causar curtos-circuitos.

- Não utilizar material microabrasivo ou palha de aço na limpeza, não empregar solventes orgânicos ou detergentes que contenham solventes tais como éter, tira manchas, etc..

- Para a limpeza do Display LCD utilize pano de material macio e seco.- Não esterilize de outra maneira a não ser em autoclave (vapor úmido), as partes

cabíveis a esse processo são: Contra-ângulo, clip labial, suporte de lima.- Remova a lima antes de autoclavar o contra-ângulo.

- Nunca utilize o aparelho se o indicador de energia da bateria estiver piscando. Ele não funcionará adequadamente se a bateria estiver fraca.

- Se verificar saída de fluido da bateria, deformação do invólucro da peça de mão motorizada ou descoloração parcial, interrompa imediatamente a utilização e contate seu representante (Gnatus).

- Sempre segure pelos conectores para conectar ou desconectar os cabos.- Após acoplar o contra-ângulo ao micromotor, puxe o levemente para confirmar se está

devidamente preso. - Utilize o modo de rotação reversa cuidadosamente. Já que este modo é projetado

para liberar as limas presas, sua rotação é um tanto rápida e potente, podendo quebrar a lima com facilidade.

ATENÇÃO - Visando eliminar riscos de segurança ou danos ao equipamento, recomendamos que ao efetuar a limpeza não haja penetração de líquidos no interior do mesmo.- Para efetuar a limpeza do equipamento utilize um pano umedecido em água com sabão neutro. A aplicação de outros produtos químicos para limpeza a base de solventes ou hipoclorito de sódio não são recomendados, pois podem danificar o equipamento.

O equipamento deverá sofrer aferições rotineiras, conforme legislação vigente do país. Mais nunca com período superior a 3 anos.

Para a proteção do seu equipamento, procure uma assistência técnica Gnatus para revisões periódicas de manutenção preventiva.

Manutenção Preventiva

A Gnatus declara que o fornecimento de diagramas de circuitos, listas de componentes ou quaisquer outras informações que propiciem assistência técnica por parte do usuário, poderão ser solicitadas, desde que previamente acordado, entre este e a Empresa Gnatus.

Manutenção Corretiva

ADVERTÊNCIAS - Os acessórios que entram em contato com a boca do paciente durante a utilização do aparelho devem ser esterilizados em autoclave, entre um paciente e outro para evitar a contaminação cruzada.- Para o contra-ângulo, limpe, lubrifique e retire o excesso de óleo do instrumento coloque-o na embalagem tipo papel grau cirurgico (não fornecido com o produto) e esterilize em autoclave até 135ºC (275ºF) durante um ciclo.- Esterilizar antes do 1º uso, produto não fornecido esterilizado. Fazer este processo, toda vez que for esterilizar;- Não é válido ou recomendado o processo de esterilização por óxido etileno;- Não esterilizar em estufa; - Antes da esterilização, conectar ao equipamento e acioná-lo durante alguns segundos para eliminar o excesso de óleo;- Caso não seja eliminado o excesso de óleo, poderá causar resíduos queimados no rolamento.

ATENÇÃO Caso o equipamento apresente qualquer anormalidade, verifique se o problema está relacionado com algum dos itens listados no item Imprevisto (situação, causa e solução). - Faça uma comparação com uma imagem radiográfica, a fim de obter mais indicações.- Lave com uma solução de NaOCl, e seque a cavidade de acesso com uma serin-ga de ar, ou um pellet de algodão.- Se não conseguir contato com a ponteira, escolha um instrumento maior.- Aplique outra vez o clipe labial no paciente.

- Verifique novamente os cabos e as conexões.• Verifique se há um bom contato entre o instrumento e a ponteira.- Verifique se os cabos e as conexões apresentam algum dano visível.

Equipment descriptionThe micromotor and Apex locator Endus Duo R is a high-precision electronic equipment,

modern and that should be used in endodontics to aid in canal treatments. It is used to measure the real length of the tooth - (it determines the working length) – until where the instrumentation and filling will take place, in order for the endodontics treatment to respect the biologic limits of the dental structure. Combined with the pen for rotatory instrumentation it allows that the micromotor be manipulated in various patterns, in rotatory mode or reciprocal mode of the instrument.

Principles and foundations applied to the proper functioning of the product

Apex Locator: It is understood that the tooth works like a capacitor with the accumulation of electric charges at the periodontium and on the inside of the radicular canal. The dentine works as an isolator for the propagation of electric current along all the extension of the radicular canal.

The Apex locators work with the principle of the constancy of electric current between the oral mucosa and the periodontal ligament. The electronic method considers the difference on the electric conductivity of a metallic instrument on the inside of the radicular canal and the conductivity of the periapical tissue. The electric current existing on the radicular canal would complete the circuit at the moment that the electrode, file, would touch the tissue fluid, indicating the most apical portion of the radicular canal, “the apical foramen”.

Electric micromotor: Its functioning principle is based on the magnetic field, which will induce the rotor to spin when a direct current is applied to its poles.

INSTALLATION OF THE EQUIPMENTThe installation procedure is simple. Follow the steps below to correctly install the product.

- Position the equipment on a firm and leveled place.- Connect the plug of the battery charger in the main unit – only for recharge (fig.01).

OBS: Use only good quality and standardized drills. Drills with a too long shaft can produce excessive vibration lowering the lifespan of the bearings.

(A) of the counter-angle with the positioning indentations (B) of the handpiece and introduce the head until you listen a click (see fig.07).

WARNINGIn order to assure a precise measurement, you shouldn’t continue the procedure while you don’t hear the orientation beeps.

On the LCD panel the levels of the scale of the canal length are divided in the colors yellow, blue and red.

As soon as the area becomes visible on the canal apex the yellow color will blink, alerting the start of the measurement.

The scale is divided in 3 levels, where each level represents 0,1 mm of the apex area. The spare yellows represent the narrow area of the canal apex where they are defined

When you reach the apex, slowly spin the file counterclockwiseuntil the meter reaches again 0.5 mm. When the scale of length

of the narrow area on the LCD Display is in 0,5 mm the file will have reached the desired position, i.e., in the area of the root apex. Position the rubber stop on the tooth surface as a reference point to determine the length of work of the root canal. Reminding that as soon as the file reaches the 2,0 mm position of the canal apex, continuous beeps will sound.

blink, adjust the apex position in a 0,0 to 1,0mm range by pressing the keys “ADJUST+” and “ADJUST-”. Three (3) seconds after the last touch the apex mode will stop blinking and the configuration will be saved.

Generally the narrow area is between 0.2 and 0.3mm of the canal apex. By initiating the procedure the equipment will detect the beginning of the measurement.

M2:With this function enabled, when pressing the command pedal (a) or button (b) on the own handpiece the motor will spin clockwise. If, during its operation, the force reaches the pre-defined limit concerning the torque, two beeps will sound and the handpiece will automatically spin in the reverse direction. Once the force is eliminated, the handpiece starts to spin clockwise again. Activating the REVERSE mode, beeps will sound alerting the alteration in the spinning direction, spinning it counterclockwise, when disactivating and activating again the equipment the spinning direction will go back to the initial clockwise direction (NORMAL).

After the 0,5mm scale the beeps shall be short and frequent reaching the ideal level “APEX”, where this word will be blinking on the panel, when the tip of the instrument reaches the foramen.

ATTENTION: If the instrument outreaches the apex, the word “OVER” (which represents the exceeding area of the apex) will be blinking followed by intermittent beeps.

The labial clip can be disconnected from the instrument and connected again during the measurement cycle. It can be exchanged for one or another more adequate during the root canal treatment or when another canal is measured. In these cases the equipment automatically detects that a new measurement has been initiated.

The Endus Duo R micromotor allows the programming of up to 9 stages for the rotatory instrumentation on the M2 mode.

- Press the MODE key to select the operacional mode and PROGRAM to choose between one of the pre-defined programmings, which will be saved for the other modes.

NOTES- For oscillatory files, the configurations, including speed and torque, can’t be adjusted. - The oscillatory files distinguish themselves from the continuous ones because of their special design:The spiral is inverted and the shaft is equipped with a colored plastic ring. - On the reciprocating movement, the auto-reverse function is off. - On the reciprocating movement, you can hear a sound when the load approximates the limit value for the torque. If this happens, do not press the file inside the root canal.Remove it from the canal and clean the stretch marks.- If the maximum torque is achieved, the motor will stop. Should this happen, remove the file from the radicular canal, clean the stretch marks and restart.- When the equipment is connected to the charger, it will automatically turn off (non-operating).Automatic Shutoff:- The equipment will automatically turn off when it’s not in use for more than 3 minutes. To turn it on again, press the onn/off button.

ATTENTION Low battery warning:The LCD Display shows the actual charge of the battery, when the scale is full, it means the battery charge is complete. If there is not enough charge, the scale will blink, meaning that the charge is about to go away. At this point, the beep will sound for 3 seconds and the instrument will turn off after 60 seconds. To recharge the battery completely you should connect the equipment to the charger for, at least, 4 hours. (A new battery should be charged for 8 hours or more) The sign will be ON during the battery charging time. - The battery doesn’t present the memory effect and can be recharged even if it is not completely charged.

- Do not use own files for continuous spinning in reciprocating movement. Risk of fractures and other clinical problems. - When the equipment is in use, please, do not use the battery charger to avoid electromagnetic interference.

Your Gnatus equipment has been designed and developed according to the standards of modern techology. Similarly to other kinds of equipment, it requires special care, which is many times neglected due to several reasons and circunstances. Therefore, here are some important reminders for your daily routine. Try to follow these simple rules, which will save you a lot of time and will avoid unnecessary expenses once they start making part of your working procedure.

PRECAUTIONS, RESTRICTIONS AND WARNINGS

Sensitivity to environmental conditions predictable in normal use situations

WARNINGS- Endus Duo R needs special care regarding the electromagnetic compatibility and needs to be installed and positioned to work according to information about electromagnetic compatibility provided in this manual. - The RF mobile communications equipment and portables can affect the electromedical equipment. - The use of a cable, transducer or any other accessory different from those specified in this manual, and/or the substitution of internal components in this equipment may result in raising the emission or reducing the electromagnetic immunity of the equipment. - It is not suitable that Endus Duo R be used in the proximity with or piled over another equipment. In case there is a need of using the equipment near another one or piled, it’s appropriate that the Endus Duo R equipment be observed to check if it’s working normally in the configuration for which it’ll be used.

The equipment should be transported and stored with the following observations:- With care, not to suffer from falls and from receiving impacts.- With humidity protection, not to be exposed to rain, water drops or wet floor.- To keep in a protected from rain and direct sun place and in its original package.- When transporting it, do not move it through irregular surfaces and protect the package

from direct rain and respect the maximum piling informed on the external part of the package.

Transportation, storage and operating conditions

ATTENTION The equipment keeps its safety condition and efficiency, since kept (stored) as mentioned in this operation instruction. That way, the equipment will not lose or change its physical and dimensional characteristics.

- The equipment should only be operated by duly enabled and trained technicians (Dental Surgeons, Capacitated Professionals).

- If any maintenance should be required, only use services of the Gnatus Authorized Technical Assistance.

- The equipment has been manufactured to handle both continuous. - Although this equipment has been planned in accordance with the standards of

electromagnetic compatibility, it can, in very extreme conditions, cause interference with other equipment. Do not use this equipment together with other devices very sensitive to interference or with devices which create high electromagnetic disturbance.

- When the file accidentally touches the internal part of the canal of the dental root, the length meter of canal advancement will become a bit abnormal, but, after a few seconds, it will automatically go back to normal.

- Do not use damaged file supports; a precise measurement cannot be made with a damaged file-holder.

- Only use files and file support with plastic cables. If the file has a metallic cable, there will be a current leakage when the fingers touch the cable, which will impede a precise measurement of the root canal. Even if the file cable is made of plastic, check to not touch the metallic part with the fingers.

- Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the use of the endodontics files.- Do not use designated files for continuous spinning in reciprocating movement. - Do not use designated files for reciprocating movement in continuous spinning.- The precision of the movement proportioned by the motor is only assured if you use

an original counter-angle, properly maintained and lubricated.- When lubricating the counter-angle, have special care so that the lubricant does not

penetrate on the motorized handpiece. - Do not lubricate the motorized handpiece under any circumstances, since the contact

with the lubricant may damage it and have a strongly negative effect in terms of safety during use.

- The motorized handpiece can heat up excessively if an excessive force is used. If the motorized handpiece overheats with frequency or if the overheating persists, contact your Gnatus representative.

Precautions and warnings “during use” of the equipment

- Position the equipment in a place where it will not get wet. - Install the equipment in a place where it will not be damaged by pressure, temperature,

humidity, direct sunlight, dust, salts, or sulfur compounds.- The equipment should not be submitted to inclination, excessive vibrations, or blows

(including during transportation and handling).- This equipment was not planned for use in an environment where vapors, anesthetic

mixtures infl ammable with air, or oxygen and nitrous oxide can be detected. - Before turning the equipment ON, check the electrical network. The transformer shall

be plugged in an outlet whose voltage is within the interval: 100 - 240 V 50/60 Hz.Use original parts only.- In general, the batteries fully charged gradually discharge with time even though the

device is not in use. It is recommended that the battery be charged immediately before use.- Before its first use and/or long work interruptions such as vacations, clean and disinfect

the equipment (see Page 61 “Conservation and corrective and preventive maintenance” – General cleaning, Disinfection and Lubrication).

- Turn off the main switch of the dental set when it is not in use for an extended period of time.- Always maintain the equipment clean for the next operation.- Do not modify any part of the equipment. Do not disconnect the cable or other connections

without need.- If you are not going to use the equipment for an extended period of time, we recommend

you that the battery is removed in order to avoid fluid leakage. Please contact your Gnatus representative.

- Avoid spilling water or other liquids inside the equipment which could cause short-circuits.

- Do not use microabrasive material or steel wool during cleaning, do not use organic solvents or detergents which contain solvents such as ether, stain removers, etc.

- For the cleaning of the LCD Display use a soft and dry cloth. - Do not sterilize other than in autoclave (humid vapor), the parts suitable for this process

are: Counter-angle, labial clip and file support.- Remove the file before using the autoclave with the counter-angle.

Gnatus shall not be responsible for: - Use of the equipment for other purposes that are not specified in the instructions of use

and maintenance.- Modifications or reparations executed by personnel non-authorized by the manufacturer.- Use of non-original parts or parts different from those specified. - Fractures of files due to bad use. - Malfunction in the equipment or its accessories due to inadequate cleaning.

WARNING The equipment is not indicated for patients and dentist-surgeons bearers of a cardiac pacemaker.

- Before changing the counter-angle or file, turn the equipment off. The substitution with the equipment ON may determine an undesired spinning by accidental touch on the Start/Stop button.

- Always clean the base of the file to be installed. The entry of dirtiness on the mandril might provoke the loss of concentricity and deterioration in its force.

- Never use the equipment if the power indicator of the batteries is blinking. It’ll not work properly if the batteries are worn out.

- If you find a leakage of fluid in the battery, deformation of the casing of the motorized handpiece or its partial discoloration, immediately interrupt its use and contact your Gnatus representative.

- Always hold the connector for connecting and disconnecting cables.- After coupling the counter-angle to the micromotor, pull it lightly to confirm that it is

correctly fastened.- Use the reverse spinning mode carefully. Since this mode was designed to free the

fastened files, its spinning is fast and powerful, being able to break the file easily.

WARNING- In order to avoid safety hazards or damage to the equipment, we recommend not exposing the unit to penetration of any liquid inside the unit.- To clean the equipment, use a cloth dampened in water with neutral soap. The application of other solvent-based cleaning chemicals or sodium hypochlorite is not recommended as they may damage the equipment.

CleaningImportant: In order to execute cleaning or any type of maintenance, ensure that the

equipment is disconnected from the electrical network.

Additional procedures for reuseThe equipment can be reused in undetermined, i.e. unlimited, quantities, only needing

to be cleaned and disinfected.


In order to avoid environmental contamination or undue use of the Equipment after it has become useless, it should be discarded in the suitable place (as per the local legislation of the country).

- Pay attention to the local legislation of the country for the conditions of installation and disposal of residue.

Precautions to be adopted against foreseeable or uncommonrisks, related to the deactivation and abandoning of equipment

- If the equipment has any abnormality, check if the problem is related to any item listed in the topic of unforeseen events (failures, causes and solutions). If it is not possible to resolve the problem, turn off the equipment, remove the power supply cable from the socket and contact your representative (Gnatus).

Lubrication of the counter-angle- Only lubricate the counter-angle (a), with a specific spray.- Lubricate after each use and before the sterilization.- Insert the tip (c) on the body of the atomizer. - Insert the Spray adapter (b) on the rear part of the counter-angle (a) and lubricate

for 2 to 3 seconds or until lubricant comes out through the head of the counter-angle (a).- Before inserting the lubricated counter-angle in the motorized handpiece, clean the

excess of oil with absorbent paper. Put it on an inverted or inclined position so that the gravity helps to drain.

- Plug it after the excess of oil has been flowed out.

ATTENTION - Never immerse the instrument in a disinfection bath. - Never use microabrasive material or steel wool during cleaning.

These processes shall be used on handpieces.- Uncouple the part from the fitting terminal. - Remove the drill or diamond tip.- Clean the external part using 70% alcohol or other disinfectant that does

not have acid, ammonia or chlorine.

Disinfection

LubricantFor the lubrication of your

equipment, we recommend the use of the Gnatus GTS product.

- The lubr icant does not accompany the product.

- The use of another brand of lubricant will cause the loss of warranty of the product.

WARNINGIn order to avoid contamination, use gloves and other protection systems during disinfection.Even that, during the procedures, gloves are used, after their removal the hands should be washed completely.

WARNINGS - The accessories that get in contact with the patient’s mouth during the use of the equipment shall be sterilized in autoclave, between two patients, to avoid cross contamination. - For the counter-angle, clean, lubricate and remove the excess of oil from the instrument, put it on the package surgical degree paper type (not provided with the product) and sterilize in autoclave until 135ºC (275ºF) during one cycleo.- Sterilize before first use, sterilized product not provided. Complete this process every time you’re about to sterilize; - The sterilization process is not valid or recommended by ethilene oxide;- Do not sterilize in a greenhouse;- Before sterilization, connect the equipment and activate it for a few seconds to eliminate the excess of oil; - In case the excess of oil is not eliminated, it might cause burned residues on the bearings.

The equipment must suffer routinely measurements, following the current legislation of the country.

But, never with a period superior to 3 years.For protecting your equipment, look for a Gnatus’ technical assistance for periodic reviews

as preventive maintenances.

Preventive Maintenance

Gnatus states that the supplying of the circuits’ diagram, Part lists or any other information that permits the technical assistance by the user, can be requested, since previously agreed between the buyer and Gnatus.

Corrective Maintenance

ATTENTION In case of the equipment presents any abnormality; check if the problem is related to some of the listed items under the item Unpredictable (situation, cause and solution). If it’s not possible to solve the problem, shutdown the equipment and request the presence of a representative technical Gnatus at the nearest reseller, or order through the GNATUS Service: 0800-725-8150.

Unexpected Probable cause Solutions- Non operative equipment. - Battery without charge.

- Charger connected.

- Recharge the battery.

- Disconnect the charger.

- Micromotor won’t start. - Pedal / Micromotor badly connected.

- Equipment out of mode (M2).

- Damaged counter-angle.

- Check the cable(s) and restablish the connection.

- Select the mode.

- Substitute counter-angle.

- Micromotor retrocedes continually.

- Excessive resistance inside the canal.

- Raise the torque adjusting it manually.

- The Apex locator can’t make any measurement because it can’t close the circuit of the measurement current.

- The root canal is calcified or obliterated.

- The root canal is excessi-vely dry.

- Measurement instrument very thin for a large root canal.- The labial clip is not cor-rectly applied to the patient’s mouth.- The measurement instru-ment is incorrectly connected to the tip, i.e., in reality it’s in contact with the metallic shaft .- Connecting cable dama-ged.

- Make a comparison with a radiographic image, in order to obtain more indications.- Wash with a NaOCl so-lution, and dry the access cavity with an air syringe, or a cotton pellet.- If you can’t make contact with the tip, choose a larger instrument.- Apply again the labial clip to the patient.

- Check again the cables and connections.• Check if there is a good contact between the tip and the instrument.- Check if the cables and the connections present any visible damage.

- Reduced battery capacity. - It hasn’t been fully charged.

- The battery is not keeping its charge.

- Charge the battery for 4 hours at the minimum.- Contact Gnatus Technical Assistance.
