BMC Provided details on the new features and enhancements we can expect in 8.2.01:

› Shavlik HF7b kit integration

› Ignore segments option

› Plug-in refresh cycle config options

› Power reporting/dollar cost savings graphs/details

› ISM improvements

› Full scan from command line

› 8.2.01 “Wake Up” feature in Tuner Admin › Tries Vpro if machine is vpro capable

› Then tries magic packet, finds a peer in same subnet which forwards to target machines.

› Vpro - can be used as a seed tuner to wake up neighbors.

› If VPRO is not enabled - uses system header

› Schema Mods for 8.2.01 › MS Sql customers must go to enterprise

› DB Change

Batch forwarding of stat and log reports from repeaters to mirrors

By default, the repeaters forward the stat and log reports to the mirrors sequentially.

You can batch forward the log and stat reports from the repeaters to the mirrors.

When a repeater logger plug-in receives a log or a stat report, it checks for the log.forward.batch.size property in the prefs.txt file of the repeater. If the log.forward.batch.size property is set to any value greater than one, then the repeater sends the stat or log reports in batches.


Inventory Service

Forcing a full scan using the command-line option

You can use the command-line interface of the tuner to force a full scan on any endpoint. To perform a full scan, you can use the following syntax:

<runchannel><scannerserviceurl> -fullScan

For example, http://10.10.53.92:5282/InventoryService -fullScan

You can modify the default checksum synchronization interval in the inventory plugin

Enhanced custom segment

“flatSegmentation” - Deploy packages to specified target platform

New option, will ignore the “segmens.xml” hierarchy on transmitter and install only on the specified target platform.

<rep pkg URL> -includeSegment “Windows XP,x86/any” -flatSegmentation
