The first meeting will be a two part discussion. First part would discuss snow removal operations and the sec-
ond part would be setting a subject for three more meetings during the remainder of the year. I am interested
in knowing what would develop the most interest/participation. I do not want to just fill your time with just
another meeting, but share information between the different entities that improve your operations. Feel free

National APWA—www.apwa.net Missouri Chapter APWA—http://missouri.apwa.net
APWA national membership automatically includes one year of membership in your local Missouri APWA chapter.
Click here to learn more about APWA national membership. The Missouri Chapter of the APWA is an association of
professional engineers, technicians, operations staff, public works directors, business people, contractors, consultants,
and others who join together to exchange ideas and information, promote education and training, and work as a team to
meet professional and community needs. The Missouri Chapter’s membership comes form the geographic area of the
state of Missouri outside the Kansas City Metropolitan area.
Because the Missouri Chapter covers such a large jurisdiction, the chapter has formed the St. Louis Branch to bring
educational and networking opportunities to an even more specific geographic area. The branch operates under the
oversight of the Missouri chapter. In order to help support the programs the St. Louis Branch offers in our specific
geographic area, the St. Louis Branch has established branch dues. The St. Louis Branch dues are not included with
the national-chapter membership. All APWA chapters and branches are part of the national association, therefore it is
not possible to membership at the branch level only.
The St. Louis Branch delivers valuable, timely and relevant APWA educational, networking, and public service ac-
tivities near where members work and live. The St. Louis Branch offers members the opportunity to attend educational
programs, Click, Listen & Learn audio web conferences, symposiums, monthly branch luncheons, spring and fall con-
ferences and the chance to meet and exchange ideas with public works professionals, colleagues and peers in a profes-
sional setting.
The cost for the local membership to the St. Louis Branch of Missouri Chapter APWA is only $10.
This year, for the first time, the St. Louis Branch of Missouri APWA is offering online membership registration.
Two easy ways to renew your St. Louis Branch membership!
Everyone should renew their St. Louis Branch membership online at Renew Membership Online whether you are pay-
ing by check or credit card. You may pay by credit card by selecting the PaypPal option and clicking on the PayPal

2014 APWA Mid-America Conference & Exhibit Show
When: May 21 – 23, 2014
Where: Overland Park Convention Center - Overland Park, Kansas
This spring’s Mid-Am Conference is rapidly approaching, and though you would never guess from the weather, it will be here before
you know it. So far, nearly 50% of our booth spaces are reserved (with prime booth locations going fast!). Online conference regis-
tration was announced the final day of January and before the end of February, over fifty persons had registered. I won’t tell you
which Chapter is ahead in registrations, but I will say: WAY TO GO KANSAS CHAPTER!! for no particular reason.
You may not know this, but the Mid-Am is one of the first events to use APWA National’s new website
template. This has resulted in “issues” with the online registration process. If you are one of those that
has experienced frustration with the website, please accept our apologies. On the flip side of the coin,
we are doing WAY better than HealthCare.gov, and we spent somewhere south of $300M to get things
up and running…nevertheless, we are sorry for any inconvenience. If problems persist, contact informa-
tion for persons that can assist with registration for exhibit space or the conference itself are provided on
the website, or you can contact me and I’ll point you in the right direction (contact information below).
Make it a Stay in Kansas City! The Kansas City area will have a lot going on during and after the Mid-Am Conference, including:
Royals Baseball: The Kansas City Royals will take on the Chicago White Sox at Kauffman Sta-
dium on Wednesday, May 21st. First pitch is at 8:10 p.m.
Worlds of Fun: If you want something for the kids to do, this long-time KC attraction opens in early
May. If you stay after the conference, both Oceans of Fun (Missouri-side) and Schlitterbahn (Kansas-side) waterparks open
the same weekend.
For a comprehensive list of things that can be part of your trip to Kansas City in May, visit the following

National APWA—www.apwa.net Missouri Chapter APWA—http://missouri.apwa.net
Make plans now to attend 2014 Congress in Toronto, Ontario!
Toronto is a city constantly unfolding and alive with unlimited potential and energy. You know that excited feeling
you get when you see a great menu that is filled with so many incredible dishes that you want to taste each one?
That is how attendees of the 2014 International Public Works Congress and Exposition will feel when they are in
this incredible city and experience all that Toronto has to offer!
An international city of warmth, openness, energy and style enriched by the fusion of traditions, passions and ways
of looking at life of over 100 cultures—Toronto is an intimate metropolis featuring world-class dining, shopping,
creativity, architecture and entertainment.
Toronto's skyline includes the CN Tower, one of the Modern Wonders of the World; miles of waterfront, board-
walks and trails; distinct neighborhoods and historic districts with inspiring surprises—from artisans' exhibits to
cool cafés—around every corner.
Toronto's cultures offer an unparalleled variety of spice, taking fusion to a level far beyond cuisine. Find beautiful
architecture of the city's settlers alongside modern, sleek, gold-tinted skyscrapers. Toronto celebrates voraciously
with over 1,000 festivals every year. How's this for more juxtaposition: the street vendors even dish up soy hot dogs!
If you’re the kind who likes the unexpected, you'll love Toronto.
What do Torontonians love about Toronto? That's a long list but topping it would be the diversity. Two transit to-
kens are all you'll need to travel from one continent to another, to immerse yourself in the languages, art, cuisine
and ideas of a hundred different cultures and neighborhoods that make up this intimate metropolis.
Beyond the city limits explore fabulous regional attractions and breathtaking countryside vistas. Experience the
wonder of Niagara Falls, a renowned wine region, outstanding theaters, festivals, galleries and many outdoor ad-
ventures—all within a short drive.
...And that's only the beginning!
