The Gift of Poetry Poetry is truly a very special gift.
It can come in a gift box or a nice gift bag. Once you open it, treasures you will find.
Walt Whitman, Langston Hughes, Rudyard Kipling ---- their poems are definitely one of a kind.
And then there’s Maya Angelou, Robert Frost, and Nikki Giovanni --- so many different styles of wonderful poetry.
But once the gift it opened, you mustn’t stop there, For now it is time for the real fun to begin, it is time to share.
Share the poems that will make you laugh and cry. Others may cause you to think and possibly wonder why.
Some poems can make you happy, glad, or sad. Whatever the case may be, hopefully they won’t make you mad.
Once the gift is opened and it has been shared, There is only one thing left to do and that is to celebrate.
Celebrate and enjoy great poetry!
Open the gift! Share the gift!
And most importantly, CELEBRATE THE GIFT! From: Writings From Down Through the Years by Author and ESOL Teacher Tacardra Rountree
