FALL of 2007 – Students who used LC 4 or more times
• Higher pass rate from fall of 2004 to fall of 2007 (non-users) may be a result of a change in placement testing (51.2% to 55.9%)• The increase in pass rates for students who used the Learning Center 4 or more times during the fall of 2007 was significant (55.9% to 71.1%) • The increase in pass rates for students who used the Learning Center 1-3 times during the semester was not significant, indicating that consistency in Learning Center visits improves learning and that stopping in for a visit or two does not.• ANECDOTAL DATA – In addition to learning more, according the CLA2 math specialists and faculty members, LC users have a tremendous increase in self-esteem and in their general belief in their own abilities: “I can do this!”

Learning Center – student testimonials
I took Math 0098 and got a C and really believed that was the best I could do. Then, during my next math class, I was introduced to the Learning Center. With the help of the tutors, I got an “A” in that class. Now getting an “A” in math is my expectation, and best of all, when I go to the Learning Center, I am the one who helps other students. I never would have believed I could do this last year. Brittany, RCTC student learner
What students have to say:
I don't consider myself to be a good writer (actually, I suck at thesis statements), but the people in the Learning Center have helped me become better. I plan on using the Learning Center whenever I have to write an essay. Matt, RCTC student learner

Learning Center – student testimonials
What students have to say:
The Learning Center has helped me develop into a better student by changing my perspective on learning. By understanding more about the rate I learn, I have been able to focus on the most important fact -- that I am progressing. This understanding of learning processes was influential in my receiving a letter asking me to join PTK, and currently I spend my school days doing two things: spending time in the Learning Center learning, and working on activities related to my post as current President of PTK. I never would have been the latter had I not being doing the former.
Misty, RCTC student learner and PTK president
