• TNQT is the most northern cluster of

Campuses from Tully to Thursday Island • Aquaculture is delivered through the

Innisfail Campus and Thursday Island• There are only 2 TAFE’s that deliver

Aquaculture in Queensland.• TNQT in the north and Sunshine Coast

TAFE (SCT) in the south

• Educators need to collaborate more with

each other• Collaborate & consult with Seafood Industry• Be more flexible in delivery• Expense in training and resources• Selling Aquaculture training• Skill sets• More on the job training is needed

APPROACH BY TNQT

• Collaboration: TNQT has a closer collaboration with Sunshine Coast TAFE (SCT) & DPI&F

• Consultation: Industry Reference Groups are set up• Flexibility: Mobile Aquaculture Remote Area Training • Unit (MARATU), Innisfail High School & Innisfail

TAFE Campus are migrating together, off campus delivery at AIMS, Thursday Island, Palm Island and Lotus Glen Correctional Centre

• Resourcing: Delivery staff work between TAFE’s and share resources

• Selling: Industry Reference Groups have assisted• Skill Sets: Quad bikes, tractors, water quality &

stock handling have been developed• On-the-job: Assisting SCT with fully funded trainees

Moving Forward

• Innisfail Campus will have a new training facility by 2010

• Stay aware of clients and stakeholders needs

• Be prepared for change especially from global pressures

• Build up collaboration between schools, TAFE, universities, researchers, Government Departments and industry

• All Queensland TAFE’s delivering Aquaculture to work under one entity
