AQUAFAN ENGINEERING PRINCIPLESMotorless Hydro-Powered Cooling Tower Technology
AQUAFAN+Turbine Powered Cooling Tower with Backup Motor
Principals
• AQUAFAN+ is equipped with turbine that converts residual water pressure into fan rotation
• Backup motor delivers extra power when the cooling demand requires extra performance.
Key data
• Cell modules of 3.6 meter with 2.4 meter fans
• Rotation generated by turbine up to 250 RPM (depending on water pressure available)
• Rotation required up to 475 RPM• Total fan shaft power required up to 7.5
kW
MechanicsOption 1
• Motor controlled by VFD• VFD keeps motor free running up to 250
RPM with negligible power consumption• Above 250 RPM motor adds fan speed:
VFD switch of and motor scales up to max RPM immediately
MechanicsOption 2
• Motor controlled by VFD• VFD adjusts RPM until required water
temperature is achieved• Turbine assists motor in generating fan
speed
Mechanics
• Motor controlled by VFD• VFD keeps motor free running up to 250
RPM with negligible power consumption• Above 250 RPM motor adds fan speed:
– VFD controlled and in relation cooling demand (option 1)
– Above 250 RPM VFD switch of and motor scales up to 475 RPM immediately
Bockwoldt Project
• Scope of supply:– VFD + programming– RPM meter– Motor
• WATCO supply:– Cooling tower– Turbine / PT 100
• Provide quotation and timing for the project.
