ARC began in 1988 as Ford Graphics, a $9 million Los Angeles based reprographics company.

In less than 10 years, the company had acquired four additional repro-

graphics firms, posting consolidated revenues of $101 million. From that

point, ARC began what would become an unprecedented and unrivaled

period of growth in the history of the reprographics industry.

By 2003, the company was licensing several industry-standard applica-

tions, including its flagship online planroom product, PlanWell Enterpri-

se™. It also launched a trade association to help spread the use of tech-

nology to the industry outside of ARC, and to act as a more independent

advocate of the industry as a whole.

In February, 2005, American Reprographics was taken public by a syn-

dicate of top tier banks on the New York Stock Exchange with the trading

ticker “ARC.”

Today, ARC is the largest reprographics company in the world, surpassing

its nearest competitor in locations, size, number of employees and reve-

nues by more than 10 times. It operates in more than 40 of the top 50 major

metropolitan cities in the U.S., with hundreds of locations across North

America, as well as locations in Europe and Asia. The company services

tens of thousands of companies and millions of individuals the world over.

What does the future hold for ARC? As our customers’ needs change, we

will change with them, delivering the service, technology and products

they’ve come to expect of the largest and most advanced company of its

kind.

HISTORY

In 2000, after laying the groundwork for e-com-

merce-based business models and conceptualizing

many of the products that are currently in use across

the industry today, ARC launched one of the first and

most enduring online tools in the reprographics in-

dustry today: PlanWell®.

In 2003, the company recognized that there was no

single company with the appropriate resources, scale

and understanding to provide a standard for docu-

ment management technology in the reprographics

industry. At that point, licensing PlanWell to the broa-

der reprographics community became a necessity.

As a means to drive PlanWell technology adoption

throughout industry and embrace the advocacy role

we were obligated to perform as the industry’s largest

player, we formed the PEiR Group (Profit and Educa-

tion in Reprographics), a wholly-owned trade organi-

zation that leveraged our educational programs and

our purchasing discounts to attract and aggregate in-

dependent reprographers. Today more than 200 non-

ARC reprographers make up the membership of this

trade association.

Today, ARC considers it inevitable that nearly all of our

business will be conducted in digital form, and over

the Web in the future. At that point, we will effectively

be in the construction information management and

distribution business.

Company are undertaking a GreenPlan. It’s

the plan to make our corporation, and our

industry, as sustainable and environmentally

forward-thinking as possible. Our intention is

to be a green leader in reprography.

We will work internally to reduce consumpti-

on of resource intensive goods. We will work

with our vendors and suppliers to help make

current reprographic practices more envi-

ronmentally sound. Just as important, we

will make our customers aware of products

and services that can assist them in emplo-

ying environmentally-friendly approaches to

construction document management.

RECYCLERecycling means using materials that would

otherwise become waste in new and inno-

vative ways. Recycling significantly reduces

demand on forests, uses less total energy,

produces fewer contaminants, saves natu-

ral resources, reduces landfill waste, and

is better for the environment. Glass, alumi-

num, plastics, and paper are all recyclable.

Being so paper-centric, it’s a goal of Ame-

rican Reprographics Company to increase

paper recycling.
