Upper Division: Peter:

Behavior – More red cards, cautions and for Violent conduct. 1:8 games there is a Red Card, last season was 1:12.

If a team is needing to forfeit or cannot show up, all communication needs to be sort until an answer is received from the UD coordinator.

Playoffs- 4 teams in each division will make playoffs. All semi final games will be played the week of November 10th on weeknights. Finals will be played on Sunday, Nov 16. No consolation games.

We get to send one team in every division, 2 in GU16 and we have an alternate slot in GU19, if another Area cannot provide a team.

Referee Report: Scott

We have had two open slots out of 507 slots this season. Albeit, it is sometimes last minute coverage.

20 send offs, 80% in BU19, 40% of those for send caution, 35% for Violent conduct.

214 leading in sendoffs per team. Spectator ejection again in BU19.

Have completed 8 Advanced and 8 National Referee assessments, have missed scheduling two.

Scott has asked RRA’s for names of those who can go to the Section One UD tournament in Chino, Nov 22/23.

Financial Report: Frank

See attached financial statements

Will invoice for Area player fees on Oct 31st, Jane to pull numbers, so make sure you process your drops by then.

Had a couple more deposits of fees for the Freeway Jam, expenses all paid now.

League Play Through and All-Stars: Craig

Discussion of U14 All-Stars regarding younger requirements on Area teams and playing time for these teams

Discision was if you still have two teams, One Section and One Area present rules apply regarding younger requirement which would be 12 youngers between the two teams. More than 2 area teams requirement will be 5 youngers on every Area team. Motion made by Aldo: Area roster size to be 14 players so there can be a ¾ playing time rule. Second by Peter, Motion called and Passed.

Please send all contact information of regions post season coordinator to Craig asap. Will be a coordinator meeting on November 17th at Jane and Al’s home 2921 Santa Anita Ave, Altadena.

Please see Calendar of events and meetings attached. Fields and team #’s as soon as you have them for League. If you only have one

team in a division we need to know, so we can do a random draw to which region can send 3 teams.

League team rosters, or database to Jane by Oct 31st. Discussion about more than a 6 goal differential, Craig to write up a proposal for

discussion at next area meeting. Craig stressed the importance of making sure all your coaches are informed as

every year he get emails with the same questions he addresses at meetings every year.

Area Report: Jane

Holiday dinner is scheduled for Friday, December 5th. Roadshow, if anyone has any instructors that want to participate, please let Jane

know. RC Training coming up November – Aldo and Maurice attending. Discussion about Region colors, please can we try your best to have your teams

in Area colors when it comes to Area run programs. Used to be we could walk onto a field and know what regions were playing.

VIP: Tom

Talking with Neil at AYSO camps to secure trainers for the 2nd Annual VIP camp. Looking at signups on Area website, form maybe to register, so we can get a

good count. Joe Fitzpatrick is happy to host again in South Pasadena at Arroyo South. Tom to calendar a VIP coordinator meeting in November!! Camp to run March 15 through April 26 for 6 weeks.

Interlocking: Lisa

Still have problems with teams not showing up, from the larger regions. Coordinator for 908 reaching out every week to make sure the teams know.

Please make sure we pick up trash at Madrid, they have had complaints.

Regional Reports; Please find attached those regions that reported this week.

Additional Comments:

Lisa will have Madrid on Tuesday and Thursday evening during YDP season if other regions are looking for field space.

Maurice informs us that South Pasadena are ripping up the track at the high school, so field may not be useable for a period of time. Maurice to get firm dates of down time.

Rolando asked if anyone does a coach survey. Region 2 has online and parents can feedback, good r bad about there coaches. If you get multiple emails about one particular coach is usually worth looking into.

Area 1C - October

Region Reports Region 88- Aldo Things in Region 88 are about par for the course. Entering the 9th week of the season, two more games for U10 thru U14, then playoffs will start. Pink soccer balls were passed around the week before last and we collected almost $5,000 to be donated to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to help find a cure for childhood cancer. Thanks to Bruce, Scott, and several other parties, we’re getting quite a few R88 referees assessed for Advanced and National badges. Final player evaluations will take place the week after next (for those who may not know, every U5 thru U19 R88 player gets evaluated). All-star team numbers and all-star coaches are in place. Several of our teams have signed up for the MST. See you all Thursday!

Region 60 - Rolando Things are pretty normal (a coach here and there being sent off) for the most part. - We had our first ever Silent Saturday on 10/18. It was overall a successful event, enough to try it again next season (although earlier in the season) - Region 60 Galaxy Night on 10/19 was a success - Playoffs begin for BU12 this weekend, U10, GU12 and U14 begin on 11/09 - We will be sending teams to both MST & ASC - All-Star coach selection and player ratings will begin next week

Region 1304 - Sandy

· No one is willing to step up and take over but willing to help if I stay one more year. · There were 25 volunteers present at the time of the meeting. · Volunteers requested an immediate meeting for October 29, 2014 to discuss board positions

and other volunteer duties. · In need of U-10 Coach certification and U-12 Coach for new coaches anyone offering last

minute? · Thank you Lisa for the referee certifications. · My apologies on behalf of our region for any disrespectful coach or parent. Region 214 – Maurice

Things are going well along with some of the ongoing challenges to keep the region running smoothly We will have field issues to deal with soon at the high school in South Pasadena due to some work they have to do on the track more information on that to come. Looks like the high school will be asking to share some of our field space in the Arroyo. will have to navigate through this process We had all star tryouts for 14 year olds and 12 year olds last weekend and will have tryouts for 10 year olds this coming weekend Extra teams are doing well the 14 year old team is 4th out of 12 teams in a very tough division. games are with teams from Palos Verdes and the west side of Los Angeles Santa Monica Beverly Hills 11 year old team is doing well many nice comments from other regions about the conditions of our fields and the quality of refereeing Will participate in an extra only tournament in January We will be forming all-star teams and tournament teams in the next week. Looks like we will have 3 or 4 teams go to Myles Standish and 5 or 6 teams go to the Arroyo Seco tournament The 21st annual Arroyo seco Cup tournament will take place November 28th and 29th it will be run by yours truly once again. Our relationship with the Challenger coaching organization has gone very well. planning on having winter camps and planning camps for spring and summer. thinking about using the Galaxy organization for winter camps related to All Stars and tournaments Will be working on our budget for 2015 Have started advertising the slate of new candidates for those rolling off the board this year Registrar, treasurer, assistant commissioner secretary, special events are open one last thing we did participate this month and had up on our website October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month asked teams and parents to wear pink where/when they could...made October 25th Think Pink day...socks shoelaces pink face paint spray painted pink hair pink stickers great idea from Aldo on the pink soccer balls I think we'll do that instead next year. Region 13 - Al Going into week 9 – 3 more weeks to go in regular season · No significant issues o Aside, of course, from U10 refs either calling too many or not enough handballs in the box – depending if one wins or loses the game J · Been having good support from local and national sponsors – o Kerry Gold Cheese o Nestlé’s Quick o Dole Squish’ems o Dicks Sporting goods o Rounds Burgers · Held 2 in person Concussion Awareness courses – as volunteers have been having buffering issues with the online version (Karen Mihara provided DVD) o Not all volunteers are properly certified § Will need to address during off-season for next year · Will hold fall season post mortem to discuss how season went and what to continue and what to do differently next fall · Regional Playoffs on 11/22 and 12/6, in preparation for LPT on 12/13 · MTS on 11/28, 29 and 30 o Registration is open o U10 thru U16 · Region conducting all-star and MST tryouts o Not using Launch, doing it all with coaches and volunteers Region 98- Dave – Referee problems as usual, No coverage from game to game. Some sign up but do not show up. In talks of putting some stringent sanctions at every level for next year. • No participation in our TC Cup, play-through or All Stars I would love to hear what some of you have in place in your Regions. Just to be candid, only one Ref (AR) from Region 2, I believe, actually helped out one time, one game out of all the U14 and U12 games throughout the season at Live Oak Park. Very disappointing to say the Least! – We are getting ready for our Closing Ceremonies on November 15th. • Announcing all the League winners, passing out Year Books. • We have Baskets that we raffle off • Lunch Trucks, Games, vendors A great time to recap and have a fun day at the Park – Selection of Tournament coaches and All Star Coaches Selected Lastly but Most importantly – Regions 98 and 2 are jointly sponsoring a Bone Marrow Donor Drive in support of Vicki Barstow and her fight against Leukemia. The Barstow Bone Marrow Donor Drive will be held this Saturday, November 1st from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Live Oak Park in Temple City (10144 Bogue St.) and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Camino Grove Elementary School in Arcadia (700 Camino Grove Ave.). Attached is a flyer with important information about the Donor Drive. I will not be able to attend on Thursday but will have someone to represent!

Region 2 - Peter Every year one division causes more trouble than all the rest. This year it's BU-12 with coaches and parents misbehaving. Section and area coaches were selected weeks ago and they are in the process of selecting their tournament rosters, For Thanksgiving, we are sending 13 area type teams to MST and 11 section types to Huntington Beach. Saturday we are coordinating with Region 98 on a Be the Match bone marrow donor program to benefit Vicki. Arcadia has decided on a fee schedule for the turf fields at AHS and ACH. They will be charging $28.95 an hour for any use. We have provided new goals at City Hall and arrived at an agreement with the city regarding acceptable equipment in the CH area. EZ ups are now OK with saucer type anchors. Four legged chairs are also fine. Everything must be placed on the cement. We'll be forming a search committee to vet CVPA and Registrar replacements.
