  • About This Manual

The Master Index provides an index for the most commonly used manuals inthe HP Tru64 UNIX documentation set. Manuals with index entries in theMaster Index are listed in Table 1.

AudienceThis manual is for anyone who needs to access information about theTru64 UNIX operating system. It can help you find a specific topic in thedocumentation set by pointing you to the location in the manual where thetopic is discussed.

Searching the Master IndexYou can now search the HTML version of the Master Index using a keywordsearch. To open the keyword search page, click on the Search the MasterIndex subentry under Master Index in the General User Documents list inthe Online Documentation Library.

To perform a keyword search, enter the word or phrase you want to find. Thesearch function searches the entire Master Index for matches, and displaysthe results. When you click on an entry in the search results, the targetmanual opens in its own window. In most cases, the manual opens to theplace in the text that is indicated by the entry.

ConventionsIn the PDF and printed versions of the Master Index, each master indexpage reference is preceded by an abbreviated manual title. For example, thefollowing entry points to page 32 in the manual Sharing Software on aLocal Area Network:

    installationRIS software subset, SharingSW 3-2

Table 1 maps the abbreviated title for each manual to its complete title.

The HTML version of the Master Index does not contain page numbers.Instead, the abbreviated manual title appears as a hot link. Clicking on thislink takes you either to the beginning of the manual being referenced or, inmany cases, to the actual location of the information in the manual. Mostentries also provide section numbers, to help you further refine your search.
