Your gifts help redefine aging and provide opportunities for our organization to serve those who have served this nation. Your support gives value to the work of our caring employees—from those who provide housekeeping and dining services, to caregivers and many others committed to making sure every day at the ARC inspires a healthy and active community. We depend on the philanthropic support of our ARC family and friends to provide the quality programs that make a difference in our Residents’ lives. We are fortunate that so many of you embraced our efforts and have enthusiastically joined us in our mission to assist those we serve in living longer, healthier and younger lives.

Giving value to a healthy lifestyle

At the ARC, connections make all the difference. Residents make new friends, and create memories with old friends, as they participate in a vast array of activities. These social and service groups help our residents live longer, healthier and younger lives. The activities, on and off campus, connect our Residents and renew the energy in our community everyday.

Philanthropy is critical for us to provide a healthy and active environment to our Residents. It is through philanthropy that we are able to provide them with so many opportunities to make these special connections. Donations from ARC friends and family members have expanded access to the ARC pool, wellness center, library, and campus health centers.

In addition, a special bequest from Chief Warrant Officer 4 James Graham facilitated the purchase of a new ARC bus. This 33 passenger and wheelchair equipped bus has literally opened doors for our Residents. Camaraderie is now felt throughout central Texas, proving that retiring from the military doesn’t mean retiring from serving others. Resident’s are using this bus for service trips, cultural events, and dining—and they’re having a lot of fun along the way!

Giving value to faith

ARC residents have spent the majority of their adult lives in service to our country and protecting the freedoms that are the cornerstone of the American experience. One of the many privileges American’s enjoy is the freedom to gather. Having the ability to celebrate faith and worship as you choose is something we are especially thankful for. At the ARC, Residents recognized the need for a unique part of our campus to be set aside for all faiths to gather in prayer and celebration.

The Betty Cheever Chapel honors those core values. It also allows us to remember one of our long time residents and the family that provided so much to make the idea of this beautiful facility a reality.

The Cheever Chapel hosts all faiths represented at the ARC. Resident voices are heard in song during weekly services and weddings. Their voices are not only heard in times of celebration, but also during memorial services, as we remember friends who have passed from our ranks.

Giving value to service

Our residents have committed their lives to the service of others and their nation. Residents reaching out to help others is a natural extension of the values they displayed as military officers. We are honored to have them as valued members of our ARC community.

Our Kiwanis Club has been recognized numerous times for their support of children and families in need. They touch lives within our community and lives well beyond the ARC’s walls.

From service projects for youths—such as Key Club, Builders Club, and packing backpacks for hungry children to YMCA scholarships and college scholarships for qualified employees and their dependents— the ARC Golden Kiwanis Club lives its motto: to change the world one child and one community at a time.

We are so thankful to have this important club, honoring tradition and service, based within our community. By supporting this club, and clubs like it, we are supporting the world beyond our walls.

Giving Value through philanthropy

Thanks to generous Resident donations, we now have 9 manicured holes to putt and play challenges on. Those behind the initiative came together to build a new amenity for every Resident to enjoy.

They took community members of all skill levels into account when constructing and purchasing supplies. Left and right handed putters, as well as golf balls, are available for use. Also, handicapped and visually impaired Residents have challeneges they can compete in too.

This project has been an inspiration to the ARC community—proving you only need a creative idea and teamwork to bring an entire community together through pihlanthropy.

The Army Residence Community ended fiscal 2014-15 with approximately $31.5 million in revenues. Operating Cash Flow improved by $921,000 in fiscal year 2014-15 as a result of higher revenues coupled with prudent expense management.
