HoursTuesday, Thursday–Saturday (10 am – 5 pm)

Wednesday (10 am – 9 pm)Closed Sunday, Monday, and major holidays

Come explore a state-of-the-art exhibit about genomic science: Genome, Unlocking Life’s Code.

This exhibit, developed by the Smithsonian Institution in partnership with the National Institutes of Health, highlights the genome — the complete set of genetic or hereditary material of a living organism — and features the breakthroughs that have taken place since the completion of the Human Genome Project.

Using media interactives, 3D models, custom animations and videos of real-life stories, this exhibit examines both the benefits and challenges that genomics presents to modern society.

As part of your visit, check out the Trait Tree wall display. A large diagram guides you to identify four visible genetic traits unique to each person and features members of the Rochester community. Stop at the photo kiosk, take your picture and see where you fit on the tree of shared genetic traits.
