O After School Care
O A programme of affordable after school

parents and is funded by the Department of
Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
O It is open from 2.30pm each school day and it
also provides a service during school holidays
and other school closures.
Current activities
O Indoor basketball.
O Outdoor sports - weather permitting.
O Art activities – painting.
Aims
O To offer a fun environment where the children feel included and valued for all levels of art & craft ability and where achievement is to be celebrated.
O To offer each child an opportunity to be creative and self-expression which is important in building character, identity and learning and for building self-esteem.
O Art and craft ideas encourage children to
use their imagination to create their own
entertainment. Making something on their
own gives them confidence in their abilities
to make individual decisions and choices.
O It enables the recording of expressions of
emotions, ideas and observations.
Materials used
O Plain white t-shirts.
O Fabric Paint.
O Paint Brushes and sponges.
O Stencils.
O Assorted Stickers, google eyes and foam
shapes.
O Images for inspiration.

My facilitation
O I introduced myself to the children.
O I explained the activity was t-shirt design.
O I showed them the materials and a sample
t-shirt I had completed as an example.
O I informed the children it was up to them
to design their t-shirt whatever way they
choose.
O I gave each child a plain white t-shirt and
placed cardboard between the t-shirt to
ensure the paint didn’t go through to the
other side.
O I let them know if anyone needed any
assistance I was there to help.
O The children then started designing their t-
shirts.
