Art Gallery O-68 is een galerie voor moderne (1880-1960) en hedendaagse (1960-nu) kunst, die ruimte biedt aan ge-vestigde nationale en internationale kunstenaars met werk in verschillende technieken. Daarnaast brengt de galerie startende talentvolle kunstenaars onder de aandacht. De galerie is voor iedereen die zich wil laten raken door de schoonheid van kunst en adviseert particulieren en bedrij-ven over aankoop en opbouw van collecties.

Kunst moet inspireren, niet decoreren.

Artist Statement“My work has evolved from a lifelong love for, fascination with, and sense of reverence for the human form. I have also been deeply committed over the years to the process of drawing, finding in it time and again an emotional and visceral immediacy that has served my deeper purposes. I am working now exclusively with live models and with a great deal of speed. I like working with a living, breathing human being because, by definition, the subject is not a static one but a dynamic one, moment by moment in a process of change. My aim is to transmit so-mething of the power of that dynamism to the viewer. When successful, I liken the experience to going on a somewhat frightening roller coaster ride and arriving breathless and sometimes amazed at where that ride has taken me. The process requires of me a very deep letting off of the brakes of any preconceived notions I may have had for the drawing. By responding freshly to a particular moment the work can move in many different directions, sometimes more abstractly, sometimes more representationally. My best work often includes elements of both, and can be further layered with a sense of transition, emotional nuance and some measure of mystery.”

Edgar Knoop begann seine Studien 1957 an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München im Bereich Philosophie und Kunstgeschichte und wechselte 1960 an die Akademie der Bildenden Künste München. Dort studierte er Malerei und Grafik bei Jean-Jacques Deyrolle und Kunster-ziehung bei Anton Marxmüller und schloss 1965 als Meisterschüler mit dem Staatsexamen ab. 1972 begann seine Lehrtätigkeit an der Münchner Akademie; Knoop lehrte dort bis zum Jahre 2000 als Professor der Abteilung für Experimentelle und Angewandte Farbtheorie. 1997 erhielt er die Ehrenprofessur der Abteilung für Architektur an der Technischen Universität Tiflis, Geor-gien.

Theo Kuijpers (Helmond, 1939) volgde de Academie voor Industriële Vormgeving in Eindhoven. Zijn militaire dienst vervulde hij van 1962 tot 1963 in Suriname. Terug in Brabant verwerkte hij impressies van Zuid-Amerika in zijn schilderijen. Tot op de dag van vandaag ontstaat zijn werk veelal volgens die methode: Reizen (naar Marokko, Australië, Italië, Frankrijk, IJsland en vele andere landen); rondkijken; weergeven in vorm en kleur op doek van wat er in hoofd en hart als essentie van zijn indrukken overblijft. Aanvankelijk was hij een materiekunstenaar in de trant van Tapiès. Zo ving hij in vitrines met varkensblaas, lood, hout en andere materialen zijn tot kunst gestolde herinneringen aan zijn afkomst uit een boerengezin in Mierlo. Al heeft hij zich in de loop der jaren meer en meer ontwikkeld tot een abstract schilder, hij is een constructivist gebleven. Niet alleen zijn handschrift doet dikwijls denken aan architectuur, door naast verf gebruik te ma-ken van tentzeil, touw en takken, toont hij zich eveneens een ‘bouwer’ van schilderijen. Werk van Theo Kuijpers is opgenomen in onder meer de collecties van het Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, het Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven en particuliere verzamelaars in binnen- en buitenland.

Jan Pater is a sculptor who does not search, but finds. When he starts working on a sculpture he starts without aim, purely from his feelings to expression, supple and free in interaction with the material.He mainly works in stone or wood. The female torso is his source of inspirations. She gives him the opportunity to combine movement, tension and sequences of surfaces and lines into a combination of recognizability and abstraction. Jan Pater alternates working in The Netherlands and Italy and exposes among other things in The Netherlands, Belgium and Norway.

Roos van Dijk, Born in Utrecht, 1989A fascination with modern architecture and the rush of modern life are themes that are strongly present in the work of Van Dijk. The aesthetics of the human-made environment is cast in paint, and forms and places from our daily life are moulded in a new way of seeing. Through the action of capturing large architectural structures and their beauty first in photographs, Van Dijk frames her source in a way that is surprising.As a following step, the artist translates the photographs into paintings where the departing point is left aside and the layered, refined painting takes over. What moves this process is the artist’s will to give shape to her personal encounters with such overwhelming spaces and hidden places, in a way that becomes an accessible and open experience for the viewers as well.
