COMPETITION DEADLINES ALL work must be delivered to the Devall Student Center Ballroom, Kilgore College, Kilgore, Texas. Portfolios must be delivered between 1:30 p.m. & 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. Call Carolyn Fox-Hearne at (903) 983-8128, or email: [email protected] for delivery at other times. AWARDS The following awards will be presented: L’Louise Graham Award - $2,000 tuition scholarship to Kilgore College. Jeanne Velde Memorial Scholarship - $1,600 tuition scholarship to Kilgore College. Visual Arts Scholarships - Eight Kilgore College Scholarships that range from a four semester total of $800 to $1,200. Professional Presentation Portfolios - Awarded to top five entries. Regional Certificates of Accomplishment - Awarded to the top ten entries. Regional Award Medallions - Awarded to the top ten entries. Students must be eligible to attend the Symposium in order to participate in the portfolio competition. School districts in the following counties are eligible: Anderson, Angelina, Bowie, Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Marion, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rains, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood. ENTRIES Each student should submit a sturdy portfolio not larger than 32” x 40” that contains only six (6) original works. *At least two of these should be drawings. Any appropriate medium may be used, subject to the condition that all work must fit in the portfolio. If it is desired to submit sculpture or other three dimensional work, photographs of the work must be substituted for the work itself. In this case, two views of the same work will be considered one entry. Photographs must be glossy and not smaller than 5” x 7”. Art Symposium KILGORE COLLEGE FRIDAY FEBRUARY 5, 2016 The Kilgore College Visual Arts Programs will host the annual Secondary Art Symposium for secondary school art teachers and their students on Friday, February 5, 2016, 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Van Cliburn Auditorium. The purpose of the symposium is to avail professionals (artists/instructors) for consultation and demonstrations that might provide insight and renew enthusiasm for teaching art. The Symposium also provides the opportunity for teachers and students to see a cross-section of work from schools participating in the High School Portfolio Competition, sponsored by the KC Art Department. These will be displayed in the Devall Student Center Ballroom.
