In Italy alone, alcohol-based creative
perfumery marked up a 60% increase
in turnover compared with 2015,
achieving a value of more
than euro 200 million and
accounting for approximately 2%
of the entire Italian beauty market.

The selection process is strict,
but it means that ever year
Esxence can offer visitors an
excellent array of interests for
new business and discoveries
every year, confirming Milan as
the capital of artistic perfumery.
The exhibitors are made up of the
Main Brands, names that have long
had a stable presence in the market
(40% of the brand list) while on
the other hand, Esxence fulfils its
function a an insightful scout in
its sector, drawing up a list of new
proposals, called ‘Spotlights’
(60% of the total), the best
of the emerging new brands.
The venue is international with
70% of the brands coming from
abroad, mostly from the rest of
Europe, but also the United States
and the Middle East, once again
illustrating the event’s international

a special section on niche skincare,

and Co. This completely original fragrance
takes its historical and cultural references

superseding all national boundaries.

and religion: a time when menhirs, pyramids
and hindu temples were erected, when
philosophers found their inspirations and
our architectural heritage was created.
But they were also the times when
the art of perfumery first emerged,
when the trade routes were established
to transport the ointments and
ingredients used in perfume-making.
These 5 new fragrances evoke all the energy
of those distant places, and the religious
rituals with their smoke and scented balms:
these are odours that speak directly to the
heart, with shades of an atavistic past.
Each of them is like a link to the origins of
humanity, a reference to the spirit which
breathes life into every part of creation. our
sense of smell has always been considered
a key to spiritual enlightenment, and in this
collection, Emilia and Giorgio have created a
way of reaching our most intimate depths.
The 5 new fragrances
This new line of fragrances is essentially a
wager, in terms of the high quality
of the ingredients and their
interactions when blended.
Working closely with Andrea Casotti,
Carlo ribero, and Cristian Calabrò, all fellow
enthusiasts, Emilia sought out the most
common components of the perfumes
of ancient peoples, and transformed
them into the recipe for the new brand.
This was an extremely demanding task,
because it involved the need to source
the very finest components that hark back
to the very roots of our existence.
The result is very high quality perfume,
with an enhanced concentration of raw
materials and great evocative potential.
A combination of rich amber and hints
of lily forms a tribute to Ankh sun Amon,
the legendary queen of Egypt.
Incense from Somalia, amber and precious oud
give a mellow aroma to Dushara, the perfume
that celebrates the Jordanian city of Petra.
Saffron and spices from the Indies combined
with cashmere delight the senses in Isvara,
a perfume dedicated to ancient India.
Notes of Sicilian citrus and Italian
aromatic herbs transport us to the
gardens of patrician villas at Pompeii.
Ancient woods from Central America merge
with the rich fragrance of the tonka bean
in Tikal, dedicated to the Mayan people.
There's also something new for onyrico: aRTiMiTia
Onyrico also presents an absolutely new
fragrance at Esxence 2018 event
Among the great masters of Italian tradition,
celebrated with the first 8 fragrances of the
collection, this year, with deluxe packaging
and a mixture of highly prized ingredients,
the brand honours a woman for the first
time, namely Artemisia Gentileschi.
Artimitia is an aromatic bouquet
that plays between openly fruity
notes and overtly gourmand hints.
A base with a decisive character
of White Musk, Amber and Woody Notes is
revealed among the exuberant floral notes,
in which the fruity Champaca and the
sparkling fiori di Zenzero stand out.
This chiaroscuro of the perfume world is
created by Maurizio Cerizza in collaboration
with Emilia Chinigò and describes the
complex and strong personality of the first
Italian female painter. The artist whose
works include the very famous paintings
dedicated to Judith and the famous
"Self-Portrait as Allegory of Painting"
was a talented, rebellious and strong,
yet intimately sensitive woman.
onyrico has dedicated exclusive packaging
to her, including a cap in green onyx with
nuances that recall the self-portrait.

Masterpiece by S.I.r.P.E.A. of
Milan has asked the world’s nest
perfumers to make their best
olfactory creation.
Each one was allowed
to conceive their masterpiece
as the maximum expression
of their art of perfume-making.
This is how the first six
Masterpieces of a larger collection,
which will grow and expand
over the years, were conceived,
embodying the elite of creativity
in the world of perfume.
First Breath by Leslie Girard pays
tribute to the first emotion
that a living being experiences,
elevated in a creation
inspired by love for life.
The divine spark is expressed
in the fresh and vital notes of
bergamot, lime, grapefruit and
mandarin, which are slowly
transformed into the hot and
soft notes of body warmth
with a bouquet of white flowers,
basil and thyme before settling
into the base notes of vetiver,
patchouli and musk.
Serge de Olivera has created
the second masterpiece:
Remember Me, an essence
that will make you love, seek,
remember and never forget.
It is a warm gourmand embrace,
evident from the top notes
of bergamot, lavender,
almond and black cherry
and then the heart of liquorice,
chocolate and heliotrope flower.
Vanilla in the base notes, with
sandalwood and musk soften the
embrace. Nirvana, the paradise
that everyone aspires to, is the
creation of Michele Saramito.

green leaves, Mirabelle
and pink pepper, a heart
of jasmine, ylang yang, tuberose,
rose and orange blossom,
and a base of sandalwood,
amber, vanilla and musk create an

My Way, created by
Enrico Scartezzini, is a unique
fragrance, just as the person
who wears it has to be
noticed immediately and leads
a dynamic and active life.
Bold woody notes and pungent
essences contrast simultaneously
with fresh, soft and musky notes.
The debut of mandarin,
green apple and cardamom
introduces the soft and
aromatic heart of orange
blossom, lavender and nutmeg,
while the base notes of tonka
bean, amber and leather add
persistence and sensuality.
Shadow of Your Smile
is a mysterious essence
by Dario Volpones.
Sparkling and unpredictable,
it opens with bergamot,
lemon and orange, developing
a floral heart of neroli, jasmine
and geranium leaves and
a base of cedar wood and musk.
Vincent Ricord has created
Stairway to Heaven, a citrus
and spicy fragrance with
top notes of lemon, bergamot,
mandarin and incense.
The heart is enchanted
and ethereal with petit grain,
jasmine, cardamom and
black pepper. while the base
notes of cedar wood, tonka bean,
white musk and vanilla add
softness and persistence.

The “invention” of perfume by Catherine
de Medici was more than prosaic: it was to

With his strong and multi-faceted
personality, sensitive and
non-conformist, Massimiliano
Minorini’s experience is one
of great loves and passions.
The work is an act of creation and an
unconscious stimulus, an urgency of
the soul releasing his deepest drives.
The first project in which the creative
genius of Massimiliano Minorini
finds expression is an original
collection of fragrances deeply
inspired by the poem “rançon”
from “Les fleurs du Mal” by the
famous french 19th century
“poète maudit”, Charles Baudelaire.
The design is original and
eye-catching, capable of bringing
together different but harmonious
elements, an intense non-colour
colour such as black accompanied by
a strong and fragile material,
poor and noble, gentle and rough
like terracotta which emerges
as the absolute protagonist.
It is from the combination
of such contrasting elements
that there come redemption
and the transformation of the
materials into a real design object.
The fragrances also provoke a sense
of ecstasy and torment thanks to
their complex and multi-faceted
structure which above all aims to
confuse and capture the senses.
Well-known, pure and reassuring
fragrances are “contaminated” to
create new harmonies, audacious
accords and unexpected olfactory
notes which on the first impact
disturb ad impress to then conquer
with their emotional ambivalence.
Three flowers of the ancient
olfactory memory, violet, tuberose
and rose, each combined with
unexpected notes and essences.
Sweet and acrid like a caress
which perturbs, with the senses lit.
Luca Maffei is the emerging master
perfumer who has been chosen for
this first line: young, curious and
experimental, he has interpreted
the sensitivity (not only olfactory)

rose Narcotique is a dark and
profound rose of patchouli and
guaiac wood, agarwood and styrax.
Aromatic notes of calamus and spicy
hints of cumin give a hypnotic sensation.
In Violette Lysergique, we have a dark
violet with hallucinogenic nuances of
absinthe and crisp rhubarb. Iris and
heliotrope reveal powdery secrets
to be enveloped in an enigmatic
timbersilk and precious ambroxan.
Tubéreuse Maléfique is an extreme
and sensual tuberose: an overdose of
ylang ylang and amber on vibrations
of bergamot and petit grain with
vetyver sublimating the mysterious
touches of incense and animal hints.

Abaton launches its new and exclusive feminine
fragrance, romantic and delicate, but at the same
time enveloping and thrilling, fascinating as its
flows gently through a multiplicity of scents
and the uniqueness of the citrus structure which
restores all the simple difficulty of an essence
outside time. fior di Chinotto is an Eau de
Toilette and an Eau de Parfum. In the latter, the
concentration of precious and rare notes of the
chinotto flower are more accentuated, making
the fragrance more intense and enveloping.
The cap, made to measure in wood, keeps
the constant relationship with the nature
of the plant, and is inspired at the same time
by a closed bud which lets the light filter
through its petals, and by the fruit which
opens in segments to give its precious juice.
This fragrances captures the marine spring of
the Italian riviera and restores it to the senses.
It is a tribute inspired by women who can follow
their dreams, delicate evasions that call for new

The top notes are luminous and sparkling, with

The story of the perfume created
by fabrizio Taglicarne, CEo and
founder of omnia, began through
the combination of his passion and

The young brand of Dusita made its
mark on artisanal perfumes from its
appearance on the scene in 2015
with the first three rare and natural
Parfum Extrait creations, Issara,
oudh Infini and Melodie de l’Amour.
Just one year later, perfume expert
Luca Turin hailed Dusita’s perfumer
and founder Pissara Umavojani as a
“beautiful new voice” in the perfume
world. In 2017 two more highly
rated perfumes were added to the
Dusita portfolio (Le Sillage Blanc and
la Douceur de Siam). Pissara’s work
was rewarded with a prestigious Art
& olfaction Award at the 4th annual
institute of Art & olfaction event
in Berlin. Melodie de l’Amour was
chosen, in a blind test, as one of the
two best artisanal perfumes from
over a few hundred entries from
around the world. The new boutique
near rue Saint-honoré, at 11,
rue de la Sourdière, fulfils Pissara’s
dream to open an “oasis of fragrant
calm and happiness where perfume
lovers can indulge teir passion for
scents!” Opened in March 2018.
The boutique’s ambiance will seek
to evoke joy and contentment, like
paradise Dusita after which the
brand is named. other fragrant
products are also planned and the
poetry of Montri Umavijani, whose
life and works inspire his daughter
and her perfumes, will also feature.
A highlight and key attraction in
the store is the Atelier de Parfum.
Dusita’s perfumer plans to hold
tri-monthly. open workshops
in the creation of scents.
This exciting new venture for the
young company will let the boutique
share Parfuns Dusita’s history and

While the first Packaging Première –
ninety-six exhibitors representing 100
companies, 25% from other countries
– closed with more than 3000 visitors,
the second, scheduled to take place
from 15 to 17 May 2018, is focusing on
consolidating the role of the event, which
is already one of a kind in Italy, and even
on a world level: rather than a trade fair, it
represents a fundamental meeting place
for designers, manufacturers and major
luxury brands who recognise the potential
of packaging when it comes to exclusive
communication, aware of the changes
taking place on the high-end stage.
The luxury packaging event will
be taking place in the Lombard
capital for the second time, although
in a new and larger venue (to date,
more than 135 exhibitors representing
150 companies have signed up).
In fact, Packaging Première will be
hosted by MiCo Milano Congressi, a
multifunctional space that has made a
name for itself on the trade fair scene
with events such as Identità Golose and
some major sector-specific congresses.
The structure is situated in the
ultra-modern, recently regenerated
CityLife district. Already renowned
for its buildings by famous architects
(from Arata Isozaki to Zaha hadid),
since 30 November last year
it has hosted Italy’s largest urban
shopping district: three different
commercial areas with eighty shops,
one supermarket, twenty restaurants
and bars and seven cinemas.
“We decided to change the
venue this year,” commented the
organiser Pier Paolo Ponchia,
“because we needed to host
more exhibitors, both from Italy and
further afield, so as to offer visitors a
more balanced picture of the various
sectors involved. however, as promised,
Packaging Première will continue
to be a selective, one-of-a-kind event.”
This year too, Packaging Première
is set to be an exclusive occasion,
characterised by great attention
to detail, as well as a showcase
and space for comparisons developed
around seven macro areas that
will host exhibitors from the fashion
and accessories, watch and jewellery,
cosmetics and perfumes, wines
and spirits, speciality food,
cigar and fountain pen sectors.
The creativity of the designers,
the values of a brand, the forward
thinking of the manufacturers.
Packaging Première is all this,
featuring a display of finished products
such as boxes and cases, glass,
metal and wooden containers,
and shopping bags, along with
accessories and trims such
as labels and ribbons.
In addition to the new location,
there will also be innovations on
the conference front, which will
explore the various themes associated
with the event, involving important
representatives from each sector.
There are also plenty of surprises
in store as regards the services on
offer and the companies taking part.
