Crandall ‘that Mr. Proctor Paulsen be nominated. As there were no other nominations Mr. Paulsen was declared elected by acclamation. l Secretary L.G. Saunders was appointed as Secretary on motion uby Mr. Ivor Davies amd seconded by Mr. Fred Hunt. Carried Agenda It was moved and seconded by Messers R. Gillespie and ‘Wm Mickey that the meeting follow the suggested agenda L iprepared by the Secretary of the County. Carried Resolution The following resolution committee was appointed by a Committee motion of Mr. Clint Reed and seconded by Mr. H. Boman: l. Bill Mickey ( Chairman) 2. Mrs. Grant Hoybak. 3. Financial‘ The financial statement was presented by the AuditorsStatement ,

‘and explanations‘ made on such items as was necessary.

‘It was moved by Mr. W.J. Hoar and seconded by Mr. John Erese

‘ attend. It appears that expansion is inevitable at this

3 hospital as it had been over crowded continuously

throughout 1956.

Three Way The report of the Three Way Hospital at Rimbey was,HospitalU _ _ .,Report Hgiven by Councillor Van Nest. This hospital operated at a

E surplus of $1,800.00 for the year. Forty—four patients

L Yare enrolled in the Hospital at the present time, of which

W sixteen are from the County of Ponoka and twelvea are

? Bfrom the Municipal District of Lacombe, and sixteen outside

a g the hospital area. It was moved and seconded by J. Donnelly

}§and Fred Auten repectively that the report be accepted.

County H Chairman Marcus Crandall gave a brief resume of theChairman“

? Report. year's accomplishments , a Health Unit was established, more

school were erected and roads built and improved. Also he

‘commentedon the government improvising a new system of

‘taxation, known as the New Deal. The Federal GovernmentrVoffer of a National Health Plan to be implemented in 1958 orI

51959is under consideration. He made mention of snow plowing,

that the report be accepted. Carried

Wetpka Dr. Casey, Director and Medical Health Officer of the

giitfh Wetoka Health Unit gave the Wetoka Health Unit report.

Periodical inspections were made at school, restaurants,

slaughter houses, milk plants, etc. The Polio vaccine

program is now well underway and proper records kept. It

is commendable the progress the Unit made considering that

they were only in operation for seven months of the year.

Moved by Mr.Ercse and seconded by Mr. Dewald that the report

Secretary This report was given by L.G. Saunders assistant

Municipal road grants, and material aid to indigents. In

j concluding he informed the meeting that he was retiring

from the Council after some thirty years.of service.

Moved by M . Clint Reed that the report be accepted and

that a hearty vote of thanks and appreciation be extended‘

to Mr. Crandall for his most commendable service to the

i community. Mr. Reed also stated that he felt sure that Mr.

£Marcus Crandall's presence would be sorely missed in

] future Council meetings. This was seconded by Mr. H. Boman

and carried unanimously.

; Councillor Davies, chairman of Civil Defence gave a

‘ report on their activities. The County is divided into two

portions, one east of the fifth meridian and the other west

of the fifth meridian. He stated that training courses in

: Fisst Aid , etc were held in the County and the attendance

} was gratifying. The total expenditure for 1956 was

$5,642.34 of which seventy—five per cent was paid by the

Provincial and Federal governments. A Fire Pumper which

‘ is on loan from Civil Defence Headquarters is 3% our

disposal and while it is primarily for training purpose it

( can be used for extinguishing fires outside the town limits.

Moved by Mr. Vold and seconded by Mr. Glen Spelrem that hhis

AgricultureServiceBoard

‘The Agricultural service board report was given by

Councillor Davies. A Bangs vaccination drive was made in

April and Octobef with a total of 7,110 calves vaccinated.

immediate investigation made as to why such excesses occur
