Textured walkways is a circulation system which creates connection throughout Regent, North Dakota. By applying textures, the

walkways will produce exciting sounds and view sheds between the

corridors of main street. These corridors will gain interest of the pedestriantherefor leading them throughout the city.

leads you right into this sleepy town.

Inventory&Analysis

The cracked concrete has a negative effect. I want

use cracked and textured concrete to influence the

pedestrian to walk certain directions and make the

pedestrian aware of their surroundings

Easy accessibility is implemented into the

site but only in two places. It is important

to have sidewalk and ramps to ADA coding to

accomodate people of all ages and abilities.

The site has a pedestrian walkway system I have

never seen before. The design is extremely intriguin

but poorly executed.

Main street had only one accessibility ramp.

The sidewalk is wide which

could allow for great design

possibilities.

Texture & Lighting

Pedestrian Circulation

Pedestrian Circulation perspective shows how plantinmaterial can change the course of pedestrian traffic. Seating is im

on the steps that are up to ADA codes. This perspective shows h

accessible ramp can be used. The ramp has a run of 27 feet and

Texture & Lighting perspective incorporates sound and a

of safety. Pedestrian scaled lighting is used to create a comfortabenvironment at night. Textures such as stamped concrete and scr

This view give an example of what the site will look like

in winter. Snow will be plowed over the stairs to clear

the sidewalk for pedestrian use.

Pedestrian scaled lighting is incorporated

into the site to create a comfortable

nighttime environment. These lighting

structures will light up pedestrian crossing

and the accessible ramp.

Four Lighting structures are implemented on

each block on both sides of main streets to

solve the lighting issues that were previously

seen.
