Course Registration Information Course Size The course is limited to 28 participants to maximize the small-group learning environment. Pre-requisites Training in or experience with clinical tropical medicine or infectious diseases is required. Those with special interests in clinical tropical medicine but without experience or training will be considered on an individual basis. Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credit This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials and Standards of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through joint sponsorship of The Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine and Mahidol University Bangkok. The Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 64.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Registration Fee = $1,750 US Dollars Deadlines: Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Once you submit your application to MCG, the course faculty will review it and make a decision regarding your acceptance. If you receive a letter of acceptance from MCG, a non-refundable 50% deposit ($875 US Dollars) will be required to reserve your space in the course. (Special circumstances may warrant a refund of your deposit: decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.) The remainder of the registration fee ($875 US Dollars) is due by January 31, 2009. If, for any reason, MCG cancels the course, you will be refunded 100% of your registration fees. The registration fee includes course tuition and materials, CME credit, a course completion certificate, welcome reception and orientation, transportation to and from the Century Park Hotel to clinical sites each day (Pra Padaeng Hospital-Leprosy Hospital, Red Cross Institute and Ratchaburi Malaria Research Institute), breakfast each morning (for those at the Century Park Hotel), lunch each day (except free days in Bangkok), overnight accommodation (one night) and food at the Ratchaburi Research Station, and a farewell banquet. Items not included in registration fee include: Transportation to and from Bangkok, transportation to and from Bangkok airport to hotel, hotel or guest house accommodations in Bangkok, airport exit tax, breakfast if NOT staying at Century Park Hotel, transportation to and from Century Park Hotel if NOT staying at Century Park Hotel, evening meals (except while at Ratchaburi and farewell banquet), and excursions during or after course and site-seeing during day(s) off. Lectures, workshops, and demonstrations will involve the entire group. Clinical rounds will be in small groups. Small Group Learning Environment Most of the hospital rounds and clinical experience will involve small groups of no more than 8 course participants. It is felt that this will help facilitate learning in a congenial, informal environment. Ratchaburi Malaria Research Station Visit The Ratchaburi Malaria Research station is located on the border of Thailand and Myanmar. It is a clinical training site for the recognition, care, and treatment of outpatient malaria, located in a rural area approximately 4 hours by bus from Bangkok.
