16

A number of household goods are not suit-able for machine washing. There can bemany reasons for this. Certain materialscannot withstand intense heat, others canbe damaged by the dishwasher detergent.

Fragile decorationChina with decoration on top of the glaze(the article has a rough feel) should not bemachine washed.

Crystal/ glassPlace the articles so that they do not knocktogether during the wash. Use the lowestpossible wash temperature and the shortestpossible program. Do not heat dry! Antiqueand very fragile items should not be ma-chine washed.

Glass which is machine washed at hightemperatures can in time develop a greyfilm which cannot be removed. Wash fineglass at the lowest temperature and with alow dosage of dishwasher detergent.

SilverSilver and stainless items should not comeinto contact with each other as the silvercan discolour.

Cutlery with glued handlesCertain types of adhesive cannot withstandmachine washing. In such cases the handlescan come loose.

WoodWooden articles should only be machinewashed if they are labelled as dishwasherproof.

AluminiumAluminium can be dulled by machine wash-ing. However, good quality aluminiumsaucepans can be machine washed, al-though a reduction in lustre should be ex-pected.

PlasticCertain types of plastic cannot withstandthe high temperature generated in machinedishwashing.

To protect plastic articlesSelect a program with Economytemperature and Economy drying.

When you have selected the program, thedisplay shows the length of time theprogram took the last time it was used. When you have started the machine, thedisplay window shows how much of theprogram time remains.

This time can vary a little from one occasionto another depending on the temperature ofthe inlet water, the amount of dishes, theambient temperature, etc.

While the program is running, the time iscounted down and the remaining programtime is displayed in the window.

Note!During the first use of each wash program, the time display can be slightly misleadingas the machine is estimating the remainingcycle time. The time displayed the next timethat program is started is an estimate basedon how long the previous cycle took tocomplete. If the program takes longer thanestimated, 1 minute will continue to show inthe display until the program is finished. The corrected time will be displayed thenext time the cycle is started.

Cleaning

CleaningThe dishwasher’s inner container is made ofstainless steel and is kept clean throughnormal use. However, if you have calciferous(hard) water, lime deposits can form in thedishwasher. In this case, run a normal washprogram with two tablespoons of citric acid inthe dishwasher detergent compartment.

Coarse filterThe coarse filter collects large food par-ticles which cannot pass the outflow pump.Lift out and empty the coarse filter asnecessary. Don’t forget to replace it!

Fine filterThe residue collected on the fine filter isautomatically rinsed off with each wash. The fine filter should still be cleaned onceor twice a year.1. Remove the fine filter by first turning thefilter’s tubular strainer anti-clockwise andthen lifting the tubular strainer and thecoarse filter straight up.2. Clean with a dishwashing brush. Ensurethat the edges are properly sealed whenreplacing the fine filter.

Drain pumpThe pump can be accessed from the insideof the machine.1. Always remove the plug from the wallsocket before you clean the pump.2. Remove the coarse screen first by press-ing together the two lugs and pulling thescreen upwards.3. Now loosen the tubular part of the screenby turning it anticlockwise and removing thefine screen.4. Finally remove the small adapter to theleft of the bottom drain.5. It’s possible, by inserting your finger inthe hole, to turn the pump impeller andremove any blockage.6. Refit the adapter and screens.7. Insert the plug in the wall socket.

If you still cannot start the machine and ahumming noise can be heard, then theoverfilling protection has been activated.• Shutoff the water• Remove the plug from the wall socket• Call Service

CAUTION!Do not forget to replace thepump plug.

Spray armsThe holes and bearings can occasionallybecome clogged.1. Pull the lower spray arm straight up torelease it.2. Scrape away the debris with a needle orsimilar. The spray arms also have holes onthe underside.

To release the upper spray arm, the upperbasket must be removed.3. Pull out the basket and turn the basketstop outwards on both rails (see picture). The basket can now be removed.4. Remove the upper spray arm in the sameway as the lower arm and clean it.

DoorWhen cleaning the edge around the door, use only a slightly damp cloth, possibly witha little detergent. Do not use a spray bottleor similar around the door catch. This is toensure that water does not penetrate intothe door catch and come into contact withthe electrical components.

CAUTION!Do not use a spray bottle or similar aroundthe door catch.

Tip!In order to prevent bad odours in the dish-washer, clean the strips and corners with adish brush and low-lather detergent.

Rinse aid

Select dosageThe dispenser is usually set at 1= soft water. However, depending on the water hard-ness, it may be necessary to change thedosage.

Open the rinse aid cover . Here you will findthe dispenser’s adjustment dial. Settings 1-6:the harder the water, the higher the dosage. When the water hardness exceeds 10-12 odHyou should use rinse aid with citric acid (acidrinse aid) if the machine does not have a watersoftening filter. If the machine has a watersoftening filter, dispense as for soft water.

Too much rinse aid can lead to the build-upof foam. If your water is particularly soft, youcan dilute the rinse aid (1 part rinse aid, 1part water).

Too much rinse aid can cause streaks onthe dishes, while too little can result in waterstains.

Salt

Pour in saltBefore using a dishwasher with a watersoftening filter, you must fill the salt com-partment with salt. Use coarse salt or spe-cial salt for dishwashers.

It is best to fill with salt when you are aboutto do a wash, as the dishwasher needs tobe rinsed out immediately after filling.Proceed as follows the first time:1. First unscrew the cover as illustrated.2. Place the funnel, which is supplied withthe dishwasher, into the compartment’s fillerhole. First pour in approximately 1 litre ofwater.3. Then fill the compartment with max 1.5 kgsalt.4. Wipe away excess salt so that the covercan be properly screwed into place.5. Run a Normal wash program so that anysalt in the machine is rinsed away.

When the salt runs out, the salt symbol on the display* lights up (this function is notavailable on all machines). Unscrew thecover and fill the compartment with salt.Water is only needed on the first occasion!Wipe clean and screw back in place. Run aNormal wash program so that any salt isrinsed away.

The indicator is not workingIf the indicator is not working, this may bebecause the float, which is positioned underthe cover, has become stuck in salt residue. The float can be reached through the greenarm located under the cover of the saltcompartment. Move the float arm up anddown to loosen it. Once the float has beenloosened, press it down again.

Models without a salt symbol in the displayshow green in the salt compartment coverwhen there is sufficient salt.

*NB!After filling, there may be a short delaybefore the signal light goes out.

CAUTION!Never pour dishwasher detergent into thesalt compartment. It will destroy the watersoftener!

Suggestions on positioning thedishwasherThe dishwasher can be built in, fully free-standing or semi-freestanding.

CAUTION!Connection to electricity, water and drain-age must be carried out by a suitably quali-fied person.

A. Built-inThe dishwasher can be built in under aworktop with a working height of 820 - 870 mm.The width measurement must be at least 600mm. For additional measurements, see picture.

B. FreestandingA freestanding dishwasher must be fitted withanti-tilt. This comprises two fastening ironswhich are screwed into place as illustrated. The dishwasher is then pushed in so thatthe fastening irons grip onto the rear feet. The dishwasher cannot now tilt in the eventa load is placed on the open door. If thedishwasher is to be fully freestanding, bothside panels and the work top should befitted. These accessories can be purchasedwhere you purchased the dishwasher.

C. Semi-freestandingIf the dishwasher is positioned so that eitherside is visible, a side panel can be fitted. These accessories can be purchasedwhere you purchased the dishwasher.

D. Machines with wooden doorStronger door springs are available forpurchase for machines with a fitted woodendoor. Springs are available for variousweights and sizes of wooden door. Doorsprings can be purchased from the retailerwho sold you the dishwasher.

Connection to waterThere must be a shut-off tap on the watersupply pipe. The shut-off tap should bepositioned above the work surface or at thefront of the sink unit.

The water supply pipe has a connectionwith a 1/2” or 3/4” internal thread dependingon country.

When the installation is complete, the shut-off tap should be opened to allow the pres-sure to settle for a while and to check thatall connections are tight.

NB!It is recommended that connection shouldbe to cold water.

Connection to electricityA dishwasher fitted with a lead and plugmust be connected to an earthed socket.Repairs and maintenance relating to safetyor performance must be carried out by aqualified professional.

Technical dataSee the type plate on the right hand side ofthe door.

CAUTION!The lead must be disconnected or the socketvoltage-free while the work is carried out!

Connection to drainageWhen the drain hose is routed to aconnection nipple at the sink’s water trap(see illustration 1), note that the hose mustbe fastened level with the underside of thesink unit – otherwise the dishwater from thesink can run down into the dishwasher. Thedrain hose is threaded onto a cone-shapedconnecting pipe at the sink unit’s water trap. The cone-shaped pipe must be cut to aninternal diameter of at least 16 mm. Forother alternative connections, seeillustrations 2 and 3.

The drain hose may be lengthened by amaximum of 3 m (the total length of thedrain hose may not exceed 4.5 m). Anyconnections and connecting pipes musthave an internal diameter of at least 16 mm.However, the drain hose should ideally bereplaced with a new hose without joins.

No part of the drain hose may be more than950 mm above the bottom of the machine. The hose must not be routed directly to thefloor drain or similar. In such cases, thehose can act as a siphon and empty thedishwasher.

The hose must always discharge at least350 mm above the bottom of the machine.

Connection to drainageNB!The hose must be fastened level with theunderside of the sink unit.
