Assignment 5: Assignment Problems

Example 1: Four persons A,B,C and D are to be assigned four jobs I, II, III and IV. The cost matrix is given as under, find the proper assignment.

Example 2: There are five machines and five jobs are to be assigned and the associated cost matrix is as follows. Find the proper assignment.

Example 3: A company is faced with the problem of assigning six different machines to five different jobs. The costs are estimated as follows (in hundreds of rupees). Solve the problem assuming that the objective is to minimize the total cost.

Example 4: Five different machines can do any of the five required jobs, with different profits resulting from each assignment as given below:

Find out the maximum profit possible through optimum assignment.

Example 5: A typical assignment problem, presented in the classic manner, is shown in Fig. Here there are five machines to be assigned to five jobs. The numbers in the matrix indicate the cost of doing each job with each machine. Jobs with costs of M are disallowed assignments. The problem is to find the minimum cost matching of machines to jobs.
