History of Commission: This house is located in a beautiful place surrounded by birches, pines, cedars and a magnolia.

When the owner decided to destroy the old house inherited he thought to build a new one,

confortable and functional for the holiday, specially for the winter, being near at the city but also

farawayfromit,likeitwasaisolatedplace.Theownerareafilmakerandhissistersothename

of the house was given for this reason.

Main architectural ideas: The idea was a modern and unique house, where the idea of space had to be a relationship

between inside and outside, which immediately created a harmony between interior and exterior.

Casa per un regista

La casa di campagna si situa in un terreno molto alberato e ampio all’interno di un residence degli anni ’60. Deve essere economica,

pratica e richiedere poca manutenzione. Deve inoltre dare risposta a condizioni di uso e stile di vita differenti, tanto del regista come

della famiglia della sorella.

L’ideainizialeindividuataattraversounoscambiodiriflessioniconilcliente,partedallanecessitàdiavereunospaziocentrale.Questo

spazio ad uso comune collega funzionalmente le camere, raggruppate in due corpi separati, e unisce la cucina e l’ingresso, dando

forma ad una pianta di tipo centrale, a croce, ma dal disegno arbitrario, con braccia di dimensione diversa e con geometrie irregolari

dovuteallaposizionealeatoriadellepiante.Talearbitrarietàéunodeglielementidi“chiarezza”delprogetto.

L’intera struttura è impermeabilizzata con una membrana composta da una resina cementizia eliminando completamente gronde e

pluviali che necessiterebbero di continue manutenzioni.

La copertura a due falde modella la forma della casa disegnando prospetti dalle pendenze sempre diverse. La copertura lievemente

inclinata, con pendenza della pari al 7%, porta l’acqua piovana a scendere lentamente lungo le pareti, raccolta da una gronda posta

nel terreno. Il dilavamento produce un disegno decorativo sui muri. Con il passare del tempo gli aghi di pino e le foglie, come il grigio

dellosmog,aggiungerannounnuovostrato“naturale”sullasuperficiediresinabianca,lisciaeperfettamentetesa.

Grandivetrateafiloesternoperlospaziocomuneeunloggiatodiprotezioneconanteoscurantialibroperlecamere,lacucinae

l’ingresso costituiscono i due differenti tipi di aperture della casa. Le grandi vetrate della sala si possono quasi completamente aprire

per dare vita ad una sorta di grande portico centrale.

Internamentelospaziodellasalahauntonopiùcalmoeriposanteottenutoconunatonalitàcaldadigrigio:pavimentoautolivellante

e tinteggiature uniformano perfettamente lo spazio, immerso tra gruppi di betulle, pini e cedri, e la presenza puntuale di una magnolia.

Andrea Liverani (1969) master UPC, (Barcellona) e Enrico Molteni (1969) Dottorato di Ricerca UPC,

(Barcellona) fondano lo studio liverani/molteni architetti nel 1999 con sede a Milano.

Partecipano e vincono alcuni importanti concorsi di progettazione in Italia e all’estero, tra cui il Municipio

di Seregno tuttora in costruzione. Tra le opere realizzate, la Casa ST ottiene diversi riconoscimenti, tra cui

il Premio Piranesi 2004 (Slovenia), il Premio Nazionale In/Arch 2005, e il Premio dell’Accademia di San

Luca 2006 con la prima mostra personale tenuta a Roma.

Selezionati in diverse occasioni a rappresentare la nuova architettura italiana, tra le quali ricordiamo

l’invito alla Cornell University e la mostra Wonderland, partecipano come progettisti alla X Biennale di

Architettura di Venezia 2006 nel Padiglione Italiano.

E.M. ha curato alcune pubblicazioni sull’opera di Álvaro Siza, in particolare sul tema abitativo. Profes-

soreneicorsidiprogettazionealleuniversitàdiAlgheroediMilano,invitatoall’AccademiadiArchitettura

di Mendrisio (CH) ove insegna stabilmente. Dal 2008 è membro del Comitato di Redazione della rivista

Casabella.

Enrico Molteni (1969). Laurea presso il Politecnico di Milano (tesi in Danimarca, 1994). Tirocinio nello

studio di Elias Torres/J.A. Martinez Lapeña a Barcellona. Phd presso la UPC, Barcellona. Ha curato pub-

blicazioni, mostre e diretto un video sull’opera di Álvaro Siza.

Andrea Liverani (1969). Laurea presso il Politecnico di Milano (tesi a Porto con A. Soutinho, 1994). Tiro-

cinio tra Portogallo e Spagna, collabora tra gli altri con G. Vazquez Consuegra. Master presso la UPC,

Barcellona.

I am Martina Menconi, I was born in Milan on 1991.

I’m currently attending the third year of University of Architecture at Politecnico di Milano.

I’am still studing but I’am very interested to face the new architecture current about the sostenibility.

Infact this project takes care about the nature, specially considering that the new house has been built

around the existing trees. Moreover this project, realized by Studio Liverani/Molteni, is the original result

of collaboration between more architects.

In my opinion, a great project is done by most people working toghether and hard, I prefer to create to

design a building or landscape by comparing the different ways of thinkin and ideas.

History of Commission: This house is located in a beautiful place surrounded by birches, pines, cedars and a magnolia.

When the owner decided to destroy the old house inherited he thought to build a new one,

confortable and functional for the holiday, specially for the winter, being near at the city but also

farawayfromit,likeitwasaisolatedplace.Theownerareafilmakerandhissistersothename

of the house was given for this reason.

Main architectural ideas: The idea was a modern and unique house, where the idea of space had to be a relationship

between inside and outside, which immediately created a harmony between interior and exterior.
