The Loyola Schools Budget Committee is a multi-sectoral group composed of the deans, associate deans, specific administra-tive office heads including the Rizal Library, University Residences, OAA and OAS, faculty from the four schools and two repre-sentatives from the Sang-gunian that convenes to deliberate the operating budget of the Loyola Schools for the next school year. The output of this committee is considered

recommendatory until fi-nal approval of the Board of Trustees of the Ateneo de Manila University. Your Sanggunian lobbies for student input in the budgets of offices and departments at the start of the school year. Budgets undergo a tedi-ous process of delibera-tion within their respec-tive subcommittees: new positions, new equipment, major improvements, supplies and expenses. You are encouraged

to participate in the Sanggunian’sconsultation processes before the First Semester so that your sug-gestions can be brought up in the plenary discus-sions. Before final approval, these budgets are pre-sented to different sectors such as the student body through Magtanong sa VP Dekano and finally ap-proved by the Board of Trustees of the University.

Based on reports submitted by the departments to the Central Accounting Office at the end of each semester, the unused lab breakage fee is credited to the following year’s tui-tion payment of the same semester the lab breakage fee was paid. Hence, the first semester unused

lab breakage fee will be credited to the student’s tuition payment for the first semester of the fol-lowing year, while the second semester unused lab breakage fee will be credited to the student’s tuition payment for the sec-ond semester of the following year

Drug testing is done randomly throughout the school as man-dated by the Philip-pine Law: Republic Act 9165 Section 36: “ (c) ... Students of secondary and ter-tiary schools shall, pursuant to the re-lated rules and regu-lations as contained in the school’s student handbook and with notice to the parents, undergo a random drug testing: Provid-ed, that all drug test-

ing expenses whether in private or public schools under this Section will be borne by the government” What we actually pay for is only 1/4 of the whole drug test-ing fee per person. Through a random pick, a student will re-ceive a call slip from ADSA and be asked to proceed to the Infirmary to be tested. Results will be confi-dential.

The AISIS is used by the students to enlist their subjects, view their grades and hold orders, and evalu-ate their subjects and teachers. AISIS as a service is still expand-able, just like when it

was used during the National Elections to gather information for voters’ registration. Contact your Sang-gunian if you have suggestions on how it can further be utilized.

The collected NSTP tuition fee covers the cost of running all the NSTP programs and operations, and fol-lows the mandate of the Philippine Law: Republic Act 9163 Section 8: “ Fees and Incentives - Higher and technical voca-tional institutions shall not collect any fee for any of the NSTP components except basic tuition fees, which shall not be more than fifty per-

cent (50%) of what is currently charged by schools per unit” . The NSTP fee is not enough to cover all the transportation costs of the students. The transportation fee is now a flat rate of Php 50 for all students regardless of insertion area, while the Loyola Schools partly subsi-dizes the transporta-tion cost The LS also subsidizes the Php 50 transportation fee for scholars.
