AT  for  Early  Communication:  AAC  Devices    Augmentative  and  alternative  communication  (AAC)  devices  are  AT  tools  that  address  the  communication  needs  of  a  child.  They  are  used  in  combination  with  other  strategies.  Language  develops  in  stages;  AT  is  designed  to  address  the  emerging  abilities  of  young  children  at  any  stage.  The  use  of  AAC  devices  has  been  shown  to  enhance  a  child’s  language  development.  [VOCA:  voice  output  communication  aid]
