8

Dental practice – Seating the scan body

Seating the scan bodyThe scan body (Atlantis IO FLO or ELOS Accurate IO) is an impression component used during intraoral scanning to enable ordering of Atlantis products. Before seating the scan body, please follow the user instructions for the TRIOS intraoral scanner received from 3Shape. Do not seat the scan body until requested by the TRIOS software. In this user guide, most images and instructions will present the use of the Atlantis IO FLO.

Important: For information regarding ELOS Accurate IO scan abutment, please refer to ELOS Medtech’s instruction for use.The Atlantis IO FLO is not sterile when it is delivered, and it must undergo a cleaning and sterilization procedure before use. Refer to instructions for use for further information. – Re-usable: Atlantis IO FLO 4219-USX – Single use: Atlantis IO FLO for Ankylos implant interface, 4190-USXThe reusable Atlantis IO FLOs are designed to be cleaned, disinfected and sterilized after each use. Place the Atlantis IO FLO in a bath of a cleaning and disinfection solution directly after use to avoid drying of soil and/or debris, blood and other contaminations.

Note: Use the Atlantis IO FLO compatibility chart 32670590-USX to determine the correct IO FLO to use for the placed implants.

1. Position the Atlantis IO FLO using fi nger force to seat it securely into the implant connection.

Note: To facilitate scanning, place the IO FLO with the flat side pointing in either the lingual or buccal direction. For implant interfaces placed in a way that does not allow for the flat side to face buccal or lingual, continue with scanning and try to capture as much of the flat side of the IO FLO during scanning as possible.

2. Make sure that the connection is correctly engaged and seated before tightening the screw using light fi nger force. Use the manufacturer driver specifi ed for the implant interface in use.

Important: Make sure to place an Atlantis IO FLO for each included implant before scanning. Otherwise, scans will not be registered.

Dental practice – Scanning the Atlantis® IO FLO

Scanning the Atlantis® IO FLODo not scan the Atlantis IO FLO (scanbody) until requested by the TRIOS software. For multiple units, an Atlantis IO FLO for all implants should be seated before the scanning begins. After the Atlantis IO FLO is scanned, review the scans before continuing.

1. Make sure the blue arrow is pointing to the scanbody icon indicating the next segment to be scanned.

2. Scanning of the Atlantis IO FLO should follow the same path as when scanning the lower and upper jaws.

Important: After each segment is scanned, it is important to review the scans.

3. Review the scan result of the Atlantis IO FLO. Make sure that the IO FLO scan is scanned completely by capturing as much surface as possible. Refer to the following page to review acceptable Atlantis IO FLO scans.

1

Page 10: Atlantis® Intraoral scanning for Atlantis® abutments with

10

Dental practice – Determining acceptable Atlantis® IO FLO scans

Important: Make sure that there are no big holes in the scan as this could result in failure of implant location detection. Most important areas of the IO FLO are the flat feature and the sphere.

Note: The surface area under the IO FLO top is hard to scan. It is acceptable to have holes in the lower sphere area (but not in the flat area). See image to the left.

Determining acceptable Atlantis® IO FLO scans

Acceptable scans with captured sphere and flat surfaces:

Unacceptable scans:

Missing IO FLO flat surface. Missing IO FLO sphere surface.

Missing IO FLO sphere and flat surface.

Obstruction to the IO FLO sphere or flat surface by scan of another material (tongue, cheek, dental accessory).

Dental practice – Scanning the occlusion

Scanning the occlusion

1. Make sure the blue arrow is pointing to the “Occlusion” icon indicating the next segment to be scanned.

2. Unscrew and remove the Atlantis IO FLO from the implant.

Note: If the Atlantis IO FLO does not interfere with the opposing jaw when the patient bites down, the IO FLO can be left in the mouth and removed after the bite scan.

3. Make sure that both jaws are in correct relation, (e.g. have the patient bite down and scan the bite).

Dental laboratory – Printing the model

Printing the modelIn order to print the model, a model must be designed and .STL fi les must be generated before sending the case to Atlantis WebOrder. Only ELOS Accurate Model Analogs can be used as the implant replica when ordering Atlantis abutments. These can be orderd from ELOS MEDTECH. Contact your local representative or visit www.elosmedtech.com to place an analog order.

Important: The data for the model is designed in 3Shape Model Builder. Prior to generating data for the model, please make sure to apply the model builder settings as listed in the Appendix. Contact your representative to obtain this module, license or training.

1. Locate the Trios scan in the inbox. Right click and select “Build Model” from the drop down menu to begin.

Note: For instructions on how to use Model builder in 3Shape Dental Manager software 2015, see 3Shape user guide.

2. When the model design is ready, right click on the order and select “Advanced” –> “Generate CAM Output” to generate STL fi les for model printing.
