Certificate in ESOL (Level 1 to Level 4)Certificate in English Studies (Level 4)

Course description The ESOL Qualification has been designed to enable students to improve their everyday English language skills, communicate effectively in English language and prepare for future careers. This qualification develops the structures, vocabulary and language knowledge for operating successfully in as English speaking environment. Based around the four key skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening, the qualification enables students to improve their English across all areas at the same time.

Entry requirementsOpen to international students who wish to develop their skills in English as a second language.

Certificate in English for Academic Purposes and IELTS (Level 5)

Course descriptionGraduates will have achieved a level of English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 and will be prepared to undertake an IELTS examination at this level. Graduates will have also developed skill in exam preparation, writing and research that will assist them in transition to further study in a tertiary institution.

Study time20 Hours from Monday to Friday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Course description The Diploma in Management course consists of six papers from the NZ Diploma in Business or their equivalent in other qualifications. It focuses on business communication and management techniques.

Course outcomesGraduates will have knowledge and skills relating to general management, business communication, working in groups, applied research and leadership.

Course durationThe NZIM Diploma in Management may be completed in two semesters of full time study.

Entry requirements for international studentsTo enroll in the NZIM Diploma in Management International students must be 18 years of age or over. International students where English is a second language must have an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent.

Pathway to a university degree with cross credits Successful completion of the NZIM Diploma in Management provides graduates about 1 year credit towards the New Zealand Diploma in Business in New Zealand. Different universities internationally have different policies on cross crediting, but it is possible to obtain as many as six papers as cross credits for further tertiary degree study in New Zealand.

Course aimsThe Diploma in Healthcare Studies aims to prepare with the knowledge and skills required for the delivery of healthcare to patients and clients in the health, disability or community setting using with Tikanga Maori principles. In addition, students will gain the management expertise to facilitate the delivery of service activities in the health, disability and community settings.

Course outcomesGraduates will be able to meet the client needs in aged care, community and disability settings. They will have knowledge of healthcare and the New Zealand Healthcare system from a theoretical and practical focus. Clinical placement supports the student practical application of their theoretical knowledge. An integral part of the course is tikanga practices to support the hauora of Maori. The students are also introduced to business management papers to prepare them for team leadership roles.

Course durationOne year full-time study.

Entry requirements for international studentsInternational students must be 18 years of age or over to enrol in the Diploma in Healthcare Studies. International students, where English is a second language, must have an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent with no band less than 5.0. It is expected that the student will improve the language capacity to at least a 6.0 band during the course. Students will undertake an English competency test in the first week and will attend a language support class in the first semester of the programme.

Clinical placementA key component of this programme is the completion of 150 hours clinical placement, per semester, in healthcare environments.

Course aims The Diploma in Healthcare Management Level-6, aims to provide people with comprehensive knowledge and skills required for Home/Residential healthcare, and for health delivery to patients and clients using Tikanga Maori principles. The course aims to assist people to develop management expertise in healthcare.

Course outcomesGraduates from the Diploma in Healthcare Studies Level-5 will extend their knowledge in Healthcare, Hauora and business management through completing the Diploma in Healthcare Management Level-6. Students are introduced to occupational health and safety. Clinical placement will continue to increase student practical skills.

Course durationStudents wishing to complete the Diploma in Healthcare Management should allow for full time study over four semesters of two years. The first two semesters is from Diploma in Healthcare Studies Level-5.

Accident insuranceThe Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Medical and travel insuranceInternational students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand.Students aged under 18International Students who are aged under 18 are required by the Code of Practice to live in supervised accommodation. If you are aged under 18, you are required to live with your parents, a caregiver appointed by your parents or legal guardian, or in a homestay arranged by the institutes. If you are aged under 18, you must complete the Application Form for Students Aged under 18.

Statutory of declaration of conflict of interest from each governing member There is no material conflict of interest of

any of the governing members of AGI. And the governing members of AGI who have interests in organisations in the education or immigration sector that provide goods or services to tertiary students have been listed in the Offer Letter. Withdrawal and refund policyCourses of 3 calendar months or more:

i. Withdraw within the first ten working days of the course:

When the course duration is 13 weeks or greater, the provider shall allow the student to withdraw within the first 10 working days of the course and shall refund to the student the full amount of any payment or sum of payments made by the students, less 25% of the tuition fee paid.

ii. Withdraw after ten working days from the start of the course:

No refunds are provided after the first ten working days of the course.

Courses of 5 weeks to 3 calendar months:

i. Withdraw before the start of the course, or within the first 5 working days:

A minimum of 25% of all course fee (excluding enrolment and material fees) paid by the student will be refunded.

ii. Withdraw after the first 5 working days: No refunds are provided after the first 5 working days of the course.

Courses less than 5 weeks:

i. Withdrawal before the start of the course, or within the first 2 working days of the course:

50% of all course fee (excluding enrolment and material fees) paid by the student will be refunded, unless course is only 2 working days where the school retains full fees, i.e. no refund.

ii. Withdraw after the first 2 working days: No refunds are provided after the first 2 working days of the course.

Cancellation of training by AGI AGI reserves the right to cancel training courses due to insufficient demand, unavailability of suitable staff, facilities or other major problems.
