Who are your target audience and how did you address them?

In reference to my target audience I have stated throughout my previous planning and evaluation questions that I will cater for a large audience, including content which will attract all types of music fans. And in conclusion from my planning to my actual creation of my front cover, contents and double page spread each section of my magazine does in fact meet my target audience aims.Due to such a large audience the purchase rate will be relatively high mimicking numbers on the high end similar to the annual purchase rate of world renowned Q magazine – ‘a hugely ambitious but a profitably and realistic aim’. In addition on safety note to such an ambitious target due to the target audience being large even with a drop in interest from one or two musical fan- groups there should still be a continued and consistent amount of profitable enthusiasts/ fans of my magazine ‘Embrace’.

To further ensure my opinion on the subject is as accurate as possible and un bias I have created a questionnaire sent to a number of colleagues who have separate musical interests. A few of these are summarized and commented on below;

Example of magazine fan. The type of music fan –most commonly who’d be interested in my magazine ‘Embrace’ could be either of the two described below; - Firstly as it aims to cater for such a large –

the majority of music fans with ‘common’ music, music genres enjoyed by the masses. I think anyone who enjoys listening to the most popular artists in the Top 40 shown below, and specifically

‘Joe’s comment on embrace magazine as an Enthusiast

An example Embrace magazine reader example could be described similarly as below, in the format of a reader writing a small but relevant readers column;My name is Joe I’m 14 years of age and I’ve been experimenting with tons of different music genres, types, artists and sounds I just love anything with a free easy flowing and catchy tune. My favourite’s always change and are usually based around the top 40 charts around the top ten. This magazine really provides me with a magazine providing not only the latest, most popular and most successful artists in list form with brief descriptions, it also provides background information and up to date personal information which I find very intriguing as a music enthusiast and someone who is striving to go to a college which specializes in music. This magazine is well rounded and provides tons of en capturing information for in my opinion any enthusiast.

Questionnaires• And feedback.

Page 7: Audience questions

Firstly from the content gathered from the answers in my questionnaires I have received back, the types of people who I expect to purchase my magazine and my opinion is based on the results. One of the questions I had included in my questionnaire as shown in the previous slide is ‘tick at least two of the boxes – maximum of 4’ to illustrate which music genre – fans the magazines content would cater for best’.

Attraction• Attract them = what have you done on the cover to get their

attention?Both attention and attraction are vitally important aspects of my magazine and any product which requires consuming and without it you’d struggle not to reach any profit or success. Specifically in consideration to my magazine two factors which I have found to be especially strong and weak in doing so are included below;

Firstly the cover image (facial expressions, head angle, Hair and the posture of my model – Paula). Secondly the house style and fonts used throughout theMagazine.

Page 9: Audience questions

• In addition the colour scheme – the colour’s I have chosen to include and present within my magazine are generically red, black, white and grey. Doing so consistently allows for a house style effect which enables the audience to identify my magazine on almost every page as one from ‘Embrace’. The colour’s used throughout my magazine have been picked with special consideration to being bright, bold and eye catching to readers and by passers which in turn attracts and maintains readers attention.

LanguageTalking to them how and why?..

Following on from the attraction slide language is an important aspect of presenting information and by doing so it must be done in an attractive attention gaining manner. For example within my front cover I have ensured that the wording is suited to the audience in terms of being relative and appropriate. Therefore prohibiting words and phrases which could cause any type of offense like rude slang words ‘slag’ or general swear words and any other word or phrase which could be taken as an offense.

The language used in my magazine is all relative to keeping my target audience’s in mind, for example there is no explicit language (which could potentially offend readers or by passers).

Conclusion• In conclusion from my own opinion, external feedback

(questionnaire) and on the basis on a common reader I have come to understand that my magazine has it’s strengths and weaknesses. Predominantly it’s strengths have been in the conventions and the weaknesses have been in a few forms and some of the wording. However I will improve on these in simple yet conventional ways to provide a better and more efficient presentation.
