A Message from the Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Devopment _________________Congratulations to the B.C. Seniors Games on its 25th anniversary. On behalf of Premier Christy Clark and the Province of British Columbia, I would like to offer a warm welcome to all athletes, coaches, supporters and spectators at the Games.Since 1987, the B.C. Seniors Games have provided opportunities for British Columbia seniors to participate and compete, demonstrating their considerable athletic abilities. Ranging in age from 55 to 90-plus, the B.C. Seniors Games involve approximately 4,000 seniors participating in more than 25 different sports and activities. The hard work and accomplishments of these athletes not only benefit their own health, but inspire us all, providing a model for healthy, active lifestyle. The B.C. Seniors Games are truly a community celebration. They leave a legacy of goodwill, community pride, trained volunteers, and a positive economic impact. This year, for the first time, the City of Burnaby has the honour of hosting the Games and I have no doubt that it will rise to the occasion, making these 25th anniversary Games memorable. Our government is proud to support the B.C. Seniors Games through the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.Best of luck to all athletes, coaches, and officials, and thank you to the citizens of Burnaby for your wonderful hospitality.Let the Games begin!

Sincerely,

Ida Chong, FCGA Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development

Message from the Preseident of the BC Seniors Games Society ________

Thank you Burnaby for hosting our very special 25th BC Seniors Games. Without your Board of Directors, Liaisons and all associated volunteers, who have worked so diligently and willingly given of their time these past 12 months, we would not be in our 25th year or embracing the largest 55+ BC Seniors Games in Canada. We also thank the Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, our Funding Partner, our Corporate Partners, and Sponsors who believe in investing in the Seniors Games, giving the 55+ population throughout BC the opportunity for a healthy and active lifestyle.

I am sure that Burnaby will enjoy witnessing all the participants in action, their enthusiasm, dedication and showcasing, through the Games, that age has no limit in living an Active Healthy Lifestyle, both physically and mentally throughout life.Sincerely,
