A booth at the Saskatoon Exhibition was pro-vided to Cosmo by Prairieland Park through their Community Partner program. Thousands of people viewed our “Penny For Your Thoughts” display and hundreds stopped to learn more about Cosmo with many making do-nations for our Cosmo Renewal Project. We even sold over 100 Kisik Paper Angel Christmas Ornaments! It was a great week with a number of business owners telling us that they would love to sell the Kisik ornaments at their stores this win-ter. Cosmo’s recreation staff took groups of par-ticipants through the Exhibition on a daily basis and they would occasionally stop by and rest at the booth. They really enjoyed talking to the passersby. We’d like to thank all of the staff and Cosmo’s Board members who volunteered to man the booth for the week. Anyone who would like to purchase a Kisik Pa-per Angel glass ornament can pick one up at the reception desk at Cosmo for $10 each.

MINI-GOLF FOR COSMO The ‘Penny For Your Thoughts’ campaign comes to an end on September 28th and we have reached half of our goal of $50,000. To help reach our objective, Market Mall is holding a fun mini-golf event on September 21st. Make up a team of 4 and show up between 9:30 am and 5 pm. The cost is only $24 per team. Not only will you have a great time, you’ll get a chance to pick up some prizes. If you have some pennies hid-den away, this will be a good time to bring them along.

On Thursday, August 8th, Billy Dyck, Diane Brooks, and Robert Buziak were fortunate to go to the Ex. We enjoyed walking around and looking at all of the rides and games, and ran into some of our friends from Life Skills at the Giant Wheel. Robert was excited to go on the ride with them, as it was one of his goals when he found out he was going to the Ex! We then made our way to the merry-go-round
and rode it four times! Diane, Robert, and Bill all really enjoyed this ride and kept talking about how much fun they were having. They also got the chance to grab a rubber duck and each won a prize! Thank you to Shriners for the opportunity to go to the Ex. Blair Turner Seniors’ Life Enrichment Division

Through negotiations with City Administration, Cosmopolitan Industries has crafted a recycling program for Multi Unit Resi-dences. This program was pre-sented to City Council on August 14th, and was unanimously en-dorsed and will now move to the
public consultation phase before returning to City Council for final approval. Cosmo is excited to present our comprehensive package to the residents of the city at these consultations which will likely take place in late Sep-tember or early October.

This summer, two wonderful vol-unteers from Okami Martial Arts taught a few of our participants basic karate! Sensei Crystal brought many different martial arts weapons for us to practice with! We had a lot of fun learning the techniques and to how to count to ten in Japanese! After our six weeks of training, Sensei Crystal presented each of us with our own karate headband! Thank you again to Crystal and Sarah for your time and training. We can’t wait to start again this September! On Wednesday August 21, the Life Skills Division celebrated summer with an all day sports theme event! A warm, sunny day brought about great fun with water balloons and outdoor Frisbee. Everyone en-joyed socializing outside in a shaded park area in ideal summer conditions. Other participants en-joyed a sensory glow bowling activ-ity during the morning as well. This led up to the big hit at lunch time with a barbeque in which burgers, fries, ice cream sundaes, and jello
was served! There were lots of smiles during lunch time, since a barbeque is something everyone seems to enjoy during the sum-mer. Many got dressed up in sports inspired attire, making this a color-ful event. The afternoon featured a sports theme movie in the gym on the big screen! Lots of fun!
