Challenge Innovation Technology Inc. is veteran owned and operated by Mr. Kenneth Wells and is

located in Jackson, MS. The firm offers services that include but are not limited to Cloud Computing, IT

Hardware and Software Procurement, IT Staff Augmentation, Data Center, Server Consolidation &

Virtualization as well as Network & Core Infrastructure. Challenge Innovation Technology, Inc. is

comprised of energetic professionals with vast experience who are working in almost all technologies

and spheres of Information Technology.

Over the years the firm has completed several projects with various companies and organizations. One

of the largest contracts awarded to the company was a $100,000 project that entailed refreshing and

recoding an entire network along with monthly and yearly maintenance. Currently, Challenge

Innovation Technology Inc. is working with a mid-size company to help manage the company’s

resources such as purchasing equipment along with set-up and configurations. This experience will

provide leverage as well as allow prospective customers to see how his firm can help manage

Information Technology (IT) resources for almost any company. Projected projects for Challenge

Innovation Technology Inc. include a potential partnership with DELL (to service the Jackson area) as

well as other private jobs.

Wells believes that owning a successful business means that he will be able to leave a legacy for his

daughter. “I hired my daughter so that she can learn the business and one day is the owner,” said Wells.

He also mentioned the importance of being a positive influence within his community especially since

small businesses help drive the work force. Within the past years, Wells mentioned how he has grown

as an entrepreneur. “I now have a budget and investment power which has helped my firm grow

financially. I now have the opportunity to for other ventures,” said Wells. He also discussed the positive

role MDOT DBE Supportive Services has had in helping him as a business owner. Wells said the staff

does a lot and the leadership he sees within the team has rubbed off on him and how he engages his

customers.

Wells business is continuing to grow and flourish. However, he understands every aspect of being a

small business owner and leaves a word of advice about sustaining a successful business. “Paying

attention to details is vital as well as providing quality service and giving back to your community,” said

Wells. For more information on this firm, please forward all correspondence to Kenneth Wells at 662-

I operate a small business. Even though my business is small, I’ve taken the time to learn how my business needs to operate efficiently using business principles that big businesses use. You have to style your business, like you style your life. For that reason, I named my business, Styling Your Life Solutions.

First Smart Solution: Make sure your business taxes are in order. Don’t wait until the end of the year to organize your taxes. Sit down at the beginning of each year and allow your accountant/COA to educate you on how to organize your business receipts, what is an allowable deductible expenditure and the system you should use to organize your expenditures. There are computer aps which capture your mileage as well as other business expenses.

Second Smart Solution: Cheaper is not always better. Accept reality that if you are small, you cannot always compete with larger companies. More and more businesses are buying great customer service and choosing companies that can deliver great service as well as talent. Often times, these companies are not always the cheaper bidder.

Third Smart Solution: Don’t do it all. Find your niche and stick with it! My company is known for strategic planning, leadership development and training. If someone asks you what you do, don’t adjust your workforce to do what your customer wants. Your client will appreciate your honesty and your expertise in the area which you are known.

Many people are exposed to heat on the job, in both indoor and outdoor heat environments. Operations involving high air temperatures, radiant heat sources (e.g., sunlight, hot exhaust), high humidity, direct physical contact with hot objects, or strenuous physical activities have a high potential for causing heat-related illness.

Indoor workplaces with hot conditions may include iron and steel foundries, brick-firing and ceramic plants, glass products facilities, electrical utilities (particularly boiler rooms), bakeries, commercial kitchens, laundries, chemical plants, material handling and distribution warehouses, and many other environments.

Outdoor workplaces with work in hot weather and direct sun, such as farm work, construction, oil and gas well operations, landscaping, emergency response operations, and hazardous waste site activities, also increase the risk of heat-related illness in exposed workers.

Every year, many workers become sick from occupational heat exposure, and some are fatally injured.

These illnesses and fatalities are preventable.

Heat-related illnesses can be prevented. Important ways to reduce heat exposure and the risk of heat-related illness include engineering controls, such as air conditioning and ventilation that make the work environment cooler, and work practices such as work/rest cycles, drinking water often, and providing an opportunity for workers to build up a level of tolerance to working in the heat. Employers should include these prevention steps in worksite training and plans. Also, it’s important to know and look out for the symptoms of heat-related illness in yourself and others during hot weather. Plan for an emergency and know what to do — acting quickly can save lives!
