Prayers Taught by the

Angel of Peace at Fatima, 1916

Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore Thee

profoundly.

I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ,

present in all the tabernacles in the world, in reparation for all the outrages,

sacrileges and indifferences whereby He is offended. And through

the infinite merits of

His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.

(Pray three times.)

My God, I believe, I adore, I trust and I love You! I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not

adore, do not trust and do not love You.

“Surrender to the Will of God Novena”Fr. Lankeit shares his reflections on the merits of the Novena

in dealing with struggles and burdens of life.

When Jesus tells us to take His easy and light yoke instead of the self-imposed, exceedingly heavy yoke that we take up unwittingly every time we try to control our lives, instead of surrendering our struggles to Jesus...when Jesus invites us to trade yokes, He is showing tremendous mercy.

In a time of pandemic, violence in the streets, fears about our health and the health of loved ones, economic struggles and whatever else weighs us down, Jesus invites us to surrender it all–LITERALLY surrender it to Him.

But that is easier said than done, right? How often have we said we surrender only to try to take control again? One solution is a beautiful and powerful novena called The Novena of Surrender to the Will of God. By praying this novena regularly–either as a formal novena or on an as-needed, ad hoc basis, Jesus will steadily train us to give our burdens as well as our futures to Him. And then we will discover the great secret of the saints–finding joy in suffering–because we know that Jesus is carrying most of the burden for us.

Until we have experienced this joy in the midst of suffering, it might strike us as pious but unrealistic. Once we’ve experienced the deep joy of Christ in the midst of our most intense suffering, we will never doubt again.

– Very Rev. John LankeitRector of Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral

Seal Your Front Door with Image of Divine Mercy

The Association of Marian Helpers encourages the faithful to seal their front doors with the Divine Mercy Image of Jesus. Father Chris Alar, director of the Association, based in Stockbridge MA, encourages the image posting as a witness of steadfast faith in Christ during these turbulent times. Fr Chris explains that the Divine Mercy image represents the Lord, from whose heart flows blood and water, streams of God’s mercy flooding the entire world. The Lord promised to St. Faustina Kowalska “that the soul that will venerate this

image will not perish” and promised “victory over enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death.”

Those who don’t have a Divine Mercy image may download it and print it out for free by visiting DivineMercy.org/DivineMercyImage and to watch Fr. Chris’s Seal the Doorposts video, go to the DivineMercy.org/articles/seal-doorposts.

Also, see Page 4 for Divine Mercy Images.

Holy Days and Feast Days… usher in abundant graces. The Feast of Mary’s Assumption, August 15, is a feast when Our Lady dispenses special graces to those who are open and request them. She blesses many hearts and souls with conversion.

Nice to HearThis month we heard from listeners thanking us for RFR and asking us to continue the monthly Newsletter. “I enjoy it so much.” Another person said, “I like the prayers and novenas and all the news.”One lady who called to order theEucharistic Adoration images to share with friends said, “I make a Holy Hour daily at 3 p.m.”

Prayer to Mary, Undoer of KnotsMother of fair love, I look to you. Take into your hands the ribbon of my life and see the snare of knots that keeps me bound to sin, anxiety, and hopelessness. I beg you, Mother, by your powerful intercession and long fingers of love and grace, undo the knots in my heart and in my life. Free me to love as Christ loves. Mary, Undoer of Knots, Pray for Us.For additional copies see Page 4.

Stamps NeededWe are mailing out requested material. Stamp donations of any denomination are appreciated. Postage costs are unreal. If you have extra stamps, please send them to RFR.

The Urgency for Prayer, Sacrifice and FastingOur families, country and world need help. Fr. Basil Cole, OP, a noted

retreat master, said that a few people committed to prayer can change the course of history. Let us be among the few. Steps to take: 1. Establishing a spiritual routine is very fruitful. 2. Persevering – never let discouragement set in. 3. Spiritual nourishment is vital. • Daily Mass – Most Churches are open. Mass may be seen on EWTN – Internet – You Tube • Holy Hours before Blessed Sacrament or Home Holy Hours. Many Eucharistic Chapels are open. • Daily Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy • Spiritual Reading including the Bible. • CDs and DVDs – See Page 4 for CD of month – Fr. Zachary

+ St. John Paul said, “Eucharistic Adoration contributes to the radical transformation of the world. Adoration raises the entire world to God.”

Let us seize every opportunity to be an adorer. Prayer Can be as Powerful as Action

Marian Consecration: 33 days to Morning Glory. A Do-It-Yourself RetreatBishop Thomas Olmsted urged the faithful to make this consecration in 2019, the 50th anniversary of the Diocese of Phoenix, but it is fruitful at any time. It is suggested that 33 Days to Morning Glory be started 33 days before a Marian Feast.

Starting August 6 – ends on the Birthday of Mary – September 8 August 10 – ends on the Holy Name of Mary – September 12 August 13 – ends on Our Lady of Sorrows – September 15Fr. Michael E. Gaitley’s book, 33 Days to Morning Glory, leads us on the journey of entrusting our lives to be under the mantle of Our Lady to bring us closer to her Son, Jesus. The book is available through RFR at a very special price. Call 602-944-6811 for immediate delivery. See Page 4.

For Nearly 25 Years Bishop Gomes Was Actively Involved in the Spiritual Life of the Diocese

Bishop William Gomes retired in the Valley in 1981. He was born in Karachi, India and was ordained a bishop by St. John XXIII in 1961.

For nearly 25 years he remained actively involved in the spiritual life of the Diocese of Phoenix. The Radio Family Rosary was blessed to have Bishop Gomes as an integral part of RFR Apostolate. He was the honored guest at most of our RFR Dinners, a regular guest on the Rosary program, including a special series on Scripture. He wrote four books. He was involved with other organizations in the Diocese: Knights of Columbus, Legion of Mary, Italian and Philippine communities.

Bishop Gomes’ birthday was August 26, the same as St. Mother Teresa. He had known and helped her in India. When she visited Phoenix in 1989, they met once again. Bishop Gomes died at 87 on March 4, 2004.

“Receiving Holy Communion,” leaflet by Bishop Gomes is a treasure that he left with us, and to this day it is being shared with others. He published it in 2001, marking the celebration of 60th year of priesthood. Through the years, the great appeal of this leaflet has continued. To order copies see Page 4.
