THANK YOU With the success of the Garage Sale behind us and the Fiesta rapidly ap-proaching, I continue to be amazed at the blessings bestowed by so many in our parish and once again offer my sincere THANK YOU to all in so many ways! What a Blessing! Now onto the long answered question of the difference between a “Pastor” and the “Administrator," I know I have bored you to death in the long drawn out response, but both of the afore mentioned share the same re-sponsibility to you, the People of God at San Antonio de Padua, to make the Word of God Come Alive! And make certain that the Word is shared in its “entirety.” Canon 528 is a powerful one that cuts right to the point. It does not mix words when it states that, you, “ . . . the Christian faithful are [to be] instructed in the truths of the faith, especially by giving a hom-ily on Sundays and holy days of obli-gation and by offering catechetical instruction.” It is also my responsibility to, “. . . foster works through which the spirit of the gospel is promoted, even in what pertains to social justice. He is to have particular care for the Catho-

On my way up to interior Alaska, I stopped in Juneau to see some friends and had a restful time and a last meal… of real steak, potatoes and salad. What a delightful time. I even went out on their boat and caught a King Salmon. It rained most of the time, but I enjoyed every drop after the weather of So. Cal. I had to be up at 4:30 am to catch a 7:25 am flight. I finally arrived at my first village in

lic education of children and youth. He is to make every effort, even with the collaboration of the Christian faithful, so that the message of the gospel comes also to those who have ceased the practice of their religion or do not profess the true faith.” Additionally, “The pastor [and Ad-ministrator] is to see to it that the Most Holy Eucharist is the center of the parish assembly of the faithful. He is to work so that the Christian faithful are nourished through the devout celebration of the sacraments and, in a special way, that they fre-quently approach the sacraments of the Most Holy Eucharist and pen-ance.” Lastly, “He is also to endeavor that they are led to practice prayer even as families and take part consciously and actively in the sacred liturgy which, under the authority of the diocesan bishop, the pastor [Administrator] must direct in his own parish and is bound to watch over so that no abuses creep in.” Until next week . . . Blessings for those returning to school.

In Mark 2:1-12 the community brought the paralytic to Jesus. Today we are looking for the face and hands of Christ to help us bring The Body of Christ to the home bound. Could you help us for 1 - 2 Sundays a month for about an hour after the 8:30 am, 10:00 am, or 11:45 am morning Mass? Christ is counting on you! Please contact Liz Bicknell (714) 279-9180.

UUUNITYNITYNITY WITHWITHWITH NPH USANPH USANPH USA NPH USA is dedicated to improving the lives of orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children through the support of the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters”) network of homes in Latin America and the Car-ibbean. Since its founding in 1954, NPH has assisted more than 18,000 children and is currently raising more than 3,200 boys and girls in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru. An additional 1,900 students who live outside the homes receive scholarships, meals and health care. In 2013, NPH out-reach programs assisted over 113,000 people. Children at NPH homes – called pequeños – are not available for adoption. Instead they are welcomed with their brothers and sisters and become a part of the larger NPH fam-ily. Many have suffered physical or verbal abuse, lived in horrible con-ditions, been separated and shuffled from one family member to another. Like all children, they are seeking love and security, a place they can call home.

We thank all of you who attended the information night. We will let you know by e-mail or phone when our first faith sharing class begins. Interviews will take place in the next two weeks for all who attended the information night. There is still time if you still want to be part of the RCIA Process this year. Please call Elaine Liming (714) 970-6099 to set an appointment for the interview. Once the Faith Sharing classes begin, it will be difficult to add people. Easter is early this year and we have lots to do. We thank all of you for your patience and understanding. Please pray for all of us involved in this Parish Evange-lization mission (RCIA Process); the team members, catechumens, candi-dates, and our priests.

Our Bridge Group, consisting of San Antonio parishioners, is looking for a couple of teams to join our monthly evening of community and social bridge competition, or you could ask to be included on our Substitute List, to be called when another can’t play. We play at 7:00 pm on the first Saturday of the month from September thru June. If necessary, the date and time can be moved to accommodate conflicting schedules, with arrangement with the other team scheduled for that time. Each meeting begins with des-sert and continues with four rounds of two-table bridge (as we play at multiple homes).
