Divisional
Recap
At our August Divisional we discussed ICON 2014, the amendments that were voted on and the new International Board that was elected. I introduced Shane Meyers, our new International Trustee. I gave an update on the fundraising progress NYDKC District Projects. The most important thing that I talked about was how to take advantage of the new school year to increase your club’s membership. Read update no. 12 to refresh yourself on this before you start school.

What I hope to accomplish: I have three goals for this upcoming year: I hope to make Key Club a household name. I also want to work with Kiwanis International to ensure that all Key Clubs have sponsoring Kiwanis Clubs, because that relationship is vital to the success of both organizations. My last goal is to reach the Eliminate Project Goal as it nears completion in 2015. I believe that these goals will move our amazing organization forward.
What I hope to accomplish: I believe that I can help continue to maintain an organization that will flourish for many generations to come. Member retention is a key component to this goal. We must ensure that the freshmen in our clubs are aware of all the future service, social, and leadership opportunities ahead of them while our seniors should be made aware of all the opportunities that lie ahead of them in Circle K. With Kiwanis membership declining, I believe that we can play an active role in helping solve this issue.

Back to School!
How to Start the School Year Strong During the first two months of the school year there are usually a lot more members at meetings. The numbers tend to dwindle over the course of the school year. Here are some quick tips to retain / increase your membership. -Talk about Key Club! Tell your friends! Don't assume that students at your school know about Key Club!! If more people know about it, you will have more members. - Include non-officers in decision-making, brainstorming, and planning. It will keep them interested and make them feel important; both of which will keep them coming back for the remainder of the year. - Make meetings fun! FOOD, ICE BREAKERS, SERVICE PROJECTS, MUSIC. Keep your members interested! - Make sure that every one knows about your meetings! Advertise your meetings with posters and announcements. It also helps to have meetings on a set date (like every other Thursday) so that people know when they'll be. -I attached flyers to Update no. 12 that you can use to advertise your meetings! - Have an officer meeting or two before you have a member meeting. Establish goals for the year. Talk about a fundraising idea and a service idea for the fall. It would be ideal for all of you to hold an officer meeting your first week of school and a member meeting the second week of school. - COLLECT DUES EARLY!

Eliminate
This is the last year we have to reach our fundraising goal for the eliminate project. This means that your club should really be pushing the Eliminate Project and trying to raise as much money as possible for the cause! So far the New York District has raised over $5,000 for Eliminate this service year! Trick-or-Treat for Unicef is a great way to raise money for the cause! Remember to submit Fundraising Report Forms for and fundraisers that you do! Otherwise we can’t count the money that your club raised in our totals for the District!
Reminders I. Start planning meetings, service projects and
fundraisers as early as possible! II. I need to visit each club at least once, so let me
know when you have your meetings so that we can schedule a visit in advance!
III. Please send in your Monthly Report Forms and Fundraising Report Forms, even if they’re already late. It makes the District Board really happy. We live for forms!
IV. Fundraise for Eliminate, this is the last year to complete our goal!
V. Collect Dues early! Remember that a $.50 Dues increase was passed at ICON
VI. Start fundraising for LTC VII. Keep in touch with your sponsoring Kiwanis VIII. Always feel free to call, text or email me
anytime if you have a question, need ideas, or just want to talk about Key Club! I love hearing from you guys!
