Aurubis Architectural redefines copper for contemporary design with the ongoing development of surfaces, forms and systems.
Nordic surfaces
The natural colour changes with development of copper’s oxidised browns, then distinctive blue/green patinas, and unique characteristics of copper alloys continue to fascinate architects and inform the development of Aurubis’ Nordic Surfaces. They include Nordic Standard ‘mill finish’ and Nordic Brown™ pre-oxidised copper with either light or dark brown oxidisation that otherwise takes time to develop in the environment. Nordic Blue™ and Nordic Green™ ranges offer variable intensities of pre-patination, developed with properties and colours based on the same brochantite mineralogy found in natural patinas all over the world. Copper alloys include Nordic Bronze, Nordic Brass and the innovative Nordic Royal™.
Nordic Forms
In addition to standard copper sheet, Aurubis helps designers to explore new material forms creating extra dimensions of modulation, texture and transparency for architectural surfaces. These forms might include textured surfaces, press modelled shapes, pierced or expanded sheets and mesh for transparency, super-graphics and artwork.
Nordic systems
Nordic Copper surfaces and forms can be combined and applied with various installation systems and techniques. They can be used in traditional, fully supported sheet form or as profiled sheets, panels, cassettes and other factory-made systems such as slatted or louvred systems. Applications for Nordic Copper include facades, roofs and other architectural elements of all shapes, as well as interiors.
