AUSTRALIAN SINGLES REPORT

Following on from the new peak achieved last week, Jon Bellion manages to do it at again, hitting higher reaches of the chart at #3 from #5 with All Time Low. Now he’s only got Ed Sheeran and The Chainsmokers & Coldplay collaboration to deal with…

Norwegian duo Stargate crack the Top 10 with Waterfall ft. P!nk & Sia, planting their flag on a new peak at #7 from #36. Waterfall is being chased by Martin Garrix’s Scared To Be Lonely ft. Dua Lipa, also at a new peak at #9 from #12.

Two new debuts crack the Top 20 this week. The first, at #10, is Drake’s Passionfruit, which has proven to be the radio favourite from More Life. The other is at #18 with Clean Bandit’s Symphony ft. Zara Larsson, the Most Added Song To Radio two weeks ago.

Machine Gun Kelly proved his potential at radio last year with Bad Things ft. Camila Cabello. The track peaked at #27 on Hot 100 and has paved the way for new hit At My Best ft. Hailee Steinfeld. Definitely one of the punchiest pop anthems to come out this year, Steinfeld’s feature ought to turn quite a few heads.

Ed Sheeran’s already chart-topping Galway Girl receives an official service to commercial radio though many stations have already added the track. Bliss N Eso’s Moments ft. Surprising no one at #1 is the monumental new single from ZAYN ft. PartyNextDoor. Still Got Time received additions to 75 stations last week including across-the-board adds on the Nova Network, various commercial Hit stations and Ash London Live.

Amy Shark comes in at a close second, with new hit Weekends seeing adoption from commercial radio instantaneously, skipping the hurdle at alternative radio that breakthrough hit Adore had to go through. Additions to various commercial Hit stations, Ash London Live and triple j helped it along as well. So it’s sure to have a faster ride up the charts than Adore – the only question is whether it will go as high.

The Chainsmokers & Coldplay’s time at #1 with Something Just Like This was short-lived with Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You reclaiming the top spot on the Hot 100. Lorde makes serious upward movement at #3 from #5 with Green Light however. It surpasses the last track she cracked the Hot 100 with, Disclosure’s Magnets with her featuring, which peaked at #17. It’s also now one spot away from tying her career peak of #2, held by her breakthrough single Royals. Green Light has real potential to match or even exceed Royals if she can pull ahead of Something Just Like This and Shape Of You, the latter now on its twelfth week in the chart and likely to fall in the coming weeks.

On top of #2 Most Added, Amy Shark’sWeekends made waves in the chart this week, becoming the Hot 100 Heatseeker. Now at #38 from #82, the track moved a total of 44 places and is poised to crack the Top 20 come next week’s chart.

Award-winning singer and pop star Astrid S has unveiled her brand new single Breathe. The track is her first of new music for 2017, and follows a breakthrough year for Astrid, in which her hit single - Hurts So Good - topped 120 million streams on Spotify alone. Breathe was produced by Oscar Holter for Wolf Cousins (Tove Lo, Demi Lovato, Ellie Goulding).

Though only 20 years old, Astrid S has already seen unprecedented critical and commercial success in both her home country of Norway and across the globe. Now claiming #1 on both the AIR Singles and AIR Radio Play chart this week is Sheppard’s new hit Keep Me Crazy. The last artist to do this was the all-conquering Sia in January, with Move Your Body and The Greatest, and you’ve got to go back to early December to find the same song topping both charts (The Greatest again).

While Keep Me Crazy leads, their global breakthrough hit Geronimo is still hanging around, spending its 138th week on the Singles chart at #15. The Radio Play chart has it at #17 on week 153. And Keep Me Crazy’s success isn’t confined to the AIR charts, with the Hot 100 seeing the track at #31 just this week.
