‘Riptide’ and ‘Fire And The Flood’ both hit #1 on the TMN Hot 100, with the latter

remaining in the Top 10 for 11 weeks, more than ‘Riptide’’s eight.

On the eve of his Splendour In The Grass performance, TMN spoke to Vance Joy. His new single ‘Lay It On Me’ was added ATB to the

Hit Network, Nova, KIIS, and ACE Radio.

Vance Joy is readying to resume his globe-trotting ways following the release of new single 'Lay It On Me', which swiftly entered the

TMN Hot 100 at #34 as Australian radio's Most Added track this week.

It was love at first listen for Southern Cross Austereo's Hit Network, according to Irene Hulme, the network's Head of Music and Entertainment Partnerships.

What does it mean to you to have such a receptive audience for your music across both alternative and commercial radio audiences?

I love playing shows and looking in the crowd and seeing all types of people from different demographics there. Seeing little kids with their parents all connecting to the same songs. It means a lot to have connected to a broad range of people.

Right now you’re up at Splendour In The Grass. How does it feel to play brand new material to such a big audience?

It's exciting and feels new, even though we've been here a couple of times before. Playing new songs really brings you into the moment when you're on stage. This is the first time we will be playing a couple of these songs, so we will get an idea of how they work live. I'm stoked to have this audience for the live debut of these tunes.

"Hard to believe considering the strength of his previous hits, but Vance just keeps getting better, this is a mighty song with an infectious hook that sticks in your head from the first listen, added ATB across the Hit Network from the moment it dropped," she told TMN.

The multi platinum artist is already confirmed to play major summer festivals in the U.S. and Canada; New York City’s Panorama, Chicago’s Lollapalooza, San Francisco’s Outside Lands, Austin’s City Limits Music Festival and Montreal’s Osheaga Festival.

Four singles reached multi-Platinum status in Australia: ‘Riptide’ (8x Platinum) ‘Fire and the Flood’ (3x Platinum),

‘Georgia’ (2x Platinum) and ‘Mess Is Mine’ (2x

Platinum).

'Riptide' is the longest-charting song in ARIA

Singles Chart history. It surpassed the previous

record of 106 weeks in May 2015, held by Lady Gaga's 'Poker

Face'.

TMN managed to catch Vance ahead of his Splendour In The Grass performance last Friday.

Australian radio is loving ‘Lay It On Me’. Why was this the perfect song to release right now?

Thank you. It's a song that has a bit of kick and urgency about it I suppose. We are about to play a bunch of festivals over the summer in North America, and it feels like a song that will rejuvenate the current set a bit and be a fun live song.

AUSTRALIAN SINGLES REPORT

After one week reigning atop the Hot 100, Niall Horan gives way to fellow One Directioner Liam Payne, the second #1 in as many weeks for a 1D member. Up from #4, ‘Strip That Down’ ft. Quavo dethrones Horan’s ‘Slow Hands’ which settles at #2.

There was plenty of motion throughout the Top 10 this week. David Guetta’s ‘2U’ ft. Justin Bieber has broken into the Top 5 at #4, while DJ Khaled’s latest offering ‘Wild Thoughts’ ft. Bryson Tiller & Rihanna catapults to #6 from #10.

As predicted in our mid-week charts wrap, ‘Thunder’ by Imagine Dragons is strengthening its play in the charts, rising another five spots this week to peak at #16. This correlates with similar movement on the ARIA Singles Chart where the track is predicted to land in the Top 5 next week.

One Direction member Louis Tomlinson has returned with his second single ‘Back To You’. Written by Tomlinson and featuring Bebe Rexha, the track was produced by Digital Farm Animals who has also appeared on the track ‘Digital Love’ ft. Hailee Steinfeld.

The track follows Louis’ last single ‘Just Hold On’, a collaboration with Steve Aoki, which was released in December last year and peaked on the Hot 100 at #19 a month later. With his 1D band mates charting well in the Hot 100 (Liam Payne currently at #1 with ‘Strip That Down’ and Niall Horan at #2 with ‘Slow Hands’), it is yet to be seen if Louis’ efforts will be as well received.

Vance Joy was the undisputed champion at radio last week. ‘Lay It On Me’ was added across the board to all the major networks including Nova, the Hit regional and ACE Radio networks, as well as both KIIS stations and the Ash London LIVE show.

Joy is the first Australian artist to be crowned Most Added since Peking Duk’s ‘Fake Magic’ ft. AlunaGeorge back in June. Another Aussie, Amy Shark, also saw love from radio last week with ‘Drive You Mad’ being picked up by 140 stations, the most out of any track.

Liam Payne has crept to the top of two of the three major commercial network spin charts, justifying his rise up the Hot 100. While ‘Get Low’ is the #1 on both Hit and Nova, KIIS is putting all their support behind Shawn Mendes’ ‘There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back’.

‘Get Low’ is also this week’s #1 Heatseeker, landing at #29 on the Hot 100 from #66, a jump of 37 places. Sitting just behind at #32, Kesha’s comeback single ‘Praying’ makes a significant rise of 23 spots from #55. Both tracks will undoubtedly continue their ascent over the coming weeks.

Buzzing Melbourne producer and DJ Ryan Riback has released his new single ‘One Last Time’ ft. some chick. Building on an acoustic sample, Ryan Riback has created another dancefloor hit with the power to be his biggest anthem yet.

Ryan Riback has made major waves since remixing Starley’s ‘Call On Me’. Ryan’s remix became a smash hit around the world, and in Australia it reached #8 on the ARIA Singles Chart and was certified 3x Platinum. The remix has racked up over 440 million Spotify streams since its release in October.

Ryan has since remixed Fifth Harmonys ‘That’s My Girl’, Clean Bandit’s hit ‘Rockabye’, and Andy Grammer’s ‘Fresh Eyes’. Of Ryan’s ‘Fresh Eyes’ remix, Idolator wrote, “It’s not easy to transform a mid-tempo bop into a banger but this works perfectly.”

After sitting at #7 and #4 last week on the Shazam Future Hits and Shazam Movers charts, Kesha’s single ‘Praying’ has now hit the #1 spot across Spotify Viral, Future Hits and Movers. Her full-length album RAINBOW is out August 11.

Following the success of lead single ‘Human’, Rag ’N’ Bone Man’s follow up ‘Skin’ comes in at #5 on the Shazam Movers chart, and #44 on the Hot 100. The Voice winner Judah Kelly’s track ‘Count On Me’ is also across this weeks charts at #3 on the Spotify Viral and #9 on the Shazam Future Hits.

Vance Joy has stepped back into the scene with his new single ‘Lay It On Me’, which has debuted at #2 on the Australian Hot 100 this week. The track is charting well across the board; #4 on the Alternative Hot 100, #4 on the AIR Singles, #1 on AIR Radio Play, and even scoring the #2 spot on triple’s j Hit List. Joy’s other tracks ‘Fire And the Flood’ and ‘Riptide’ also still remain in both of the AIR charts.
