Overview of Auto-Release Programs
• Auto-Release Planned Orders
• Releases Planned Orders from the ASCP workbench into Purchase Requisitions or
Work Orders if all of the Release Conditions are met.
Some important conditions are…..
➢ Tools required are available
➢ Suggested Start Date is within a release horizon
➢ Validate machines in Routing Operations
• These conditions are configurable and can be defined for every site, however the
following two conditions are our Best Practice
➢ BOM has been created
➢ Routing is created and is at the correct revision
• Planners can monitor exceptions and take necessary action(s).
Overview of Auto-Release Programs
• Auto-Release Discrete Jobs Program
• Work Orders can be automatically released to the Shop-Floor and Packets can be
printed close to the requirement date
• Releases WIP job prior to start date AND Material available
Business Benefits
• Reduces cycle time for manufacturing assemblies/sourcing materials
• Increases on-time delivery of the Finished Goods to the customer(s)
• Significant manpower savings for Planned Order/Work Order Releases
• Manages shop floor operations efficiently

Auto-Release Planned Orders
• Creates Unreleased WIP Jobs/Purchase Requisitions
• Make Item:
When Make Items (Discrete Jobs/Work Orders) are planned by ASCP they will begin their life as planned orders. Those planned orders will only exist if there is demand which needs to satisfied with supply. The customization will run through a series of checks to determine if the planned order for a make item will become a Discrete Job. The checks for make items include the following:
➢ Item does not have an exception per program definition
➢ Item is Active
➢ All tools attached to the primary routing are available
➢ NC Program is Active
– Regular NC Programs require additional check DFF, Item Rev, NC Program Rev
– Master NC Programs only need to be valid
➢ Primary Routing is Active
➢ BOM exists for that item
➢ Routing exists for that item
➢ All the resources are active in Routing
➢ All the operations are assigned with resource
➢ Also 25% of more of the components are pegged to demand
Auto-Release Planned Orders
• Buy Items:
When Buy Items (Purchase Requisitions) are planned by ASCP they will begin
their life as planned orders. Those planned orders will only exist if there is
demand which needs to satisfied with supply. The customization will run
through a series of checks to determine if the planned order for a buy item will
become a purchase requisition. The checks for buy items include the following:
➢ Item does not have an exception per program definition
➢ Item is Active
➢Need by Date is within a release horizon
Auto Release Planned Orders
• Exceptions to the above
▪ OSP (Outside Processing) Items
Certain OSP items must be released early so the buyer can obtain quotes and still meet the
customer due dates
▪ Milestone Items
These items will be released early and often to support mile-stone payments and
avoid receiving cash late from Customers
▪ Preventing Engineer Items from Releasing
- Item will be scheduled for drafting purposes
- Items will not be released as Purchase Requisitions or Discrete Jobs
Auto-Release Planned Orders Exceptions
• Exceptions may occur due to:
➢ No routing
➢ No BOM
➢ Revision mismatch
➢ Non-conformances
➢ Invalid operations
➢ Lack of materials
