RENEWALS - Week 10 - 23 NovemberUnless you notify us in writing by email by Sunday 22 November that you do not want to renew for next term, we’ll roll over your current place and automatically take payment with the details we have stored. If we have any issue processing payments (e.g. out of date cards) we will get in touch.

SPRING TERM: 4 January - 25 MarchSpring term starts Monday 4 January and runs until the week of final shows, from Monday 23 to 25 Thursday March.

Next term Drama Club will run during half term break. This happens every couple of years, when the Easter holidays are very early in the year. During half term clubs will still be running sessions based on rehearsing what has already been done, rather than finishing the text. If your child can’t make this session they won’t miss out on new scenes, but if you’re around for half term there’ll be a great session happening.

TREASURE ISLANDSet sail! Weigh anchor! Jim and Long John Silver are heading off to Treasure

Island, and twelve Drama Clubbers have stoyed away on board! After auditions earlier in the term we had the difficult task of choosing twelve

young performers to join our professional cast at The North Wall.

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who auditioned, as we know that improvising pirates with Emily, Maddy and Andy isn’t most people’s

idea of the perfect Sunday morning!

Without further ado, please join us in congratulating our Youth Chorus:Anna Blake, Tom Blake, Didi Higson, Siana Jacob, Olivia Keene,

Billy McCauley, Celeste McCauley, Gigi McCauley, Madeleine Rimer, Isaac Riviere, Miranda Wallace and Cici Xie.

CREATION NEWS | AUTUMN 2015

THURSDAY NIGHT CLUB

Over in the Education department we won’t be satisified until all the children in Oxfordshire love theatre as much as we do. So in January 2016 we’re opening a new club on Thursday nights! The club will be at St Andrews Church, near Park Town. We’ll have three sessions - a 4:30pm group for 5-7s, a 5:30pm group for 8-10s and a 11-13s group at 6:30pm.

We can’t wait to see a lot of new faces, but if you fancy moving over to Thursdays, do let us know at renewals (as we’d love to have you there!).

RELAXED PERFORMANCE

In what’s fast becoming a Christmas tradition for Creation, we will be holding Relaxed Performances of both Alice and Treasure Island this winter.

The Relaxed Performance is aimed at those with autistic, sensory and communication conditions. The show will be adapted and the atmosphere in the theatre more relaxed so it’s perfect for young children, babies and anyone who would usually shy away from public performances.

year’s The Wind in the Willows

4 CREATION NEWS | AUTUMN 2014

5-7s at Headington Baptist Church

Our Headington 5-7s are using sound and movement to find Where the Wild Things Are.

Here’s what to look forward to...

OXFORD SHAKESPEARE ENSEMBLE trading as CREATION THEATRE COMPANY (a not for profit organisation limited by guarantee) Co Reg No: 06135973 | Reg Charity No: 1119379

5-7s at Leckford Place

One of our smallest groups (in size and height!) are reinventing Little Red Riding Hood as they show us The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf.

8-10s at Leckford Place 9.30am

We’re feeling festive every morning at Leckford Place, as the 8-10s work on one of the most iconic pieces of Christmas fiction - The Snowman.

8-10s at Leckford Place 10.30am

Bah humbug! Our 8-10s are looking at one of of Creation’s favourite Christmas stories of redemption - A Christmas Carol.

8-10s at Leckford Place 1.30pm

Taking on one of our favourite texts, the 8-10s are putting their own spin on Shakepseare’s most famous love story - Romeo and Juliet.

8-10s at Headington Baptist Church

A children’s classic is given the Creation treatment as the group perform Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

8-10s at Magdalen College School

Always keen to perform some comedy, the 8-10s have been working on mistaken identiry and long-lost siblings in The Comedy of Errors.

11-13s at Leckford Place 3.30pm

We’ve been spending our Saturday afternoon’s in Narnia as the group study The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

11-13s at Leckford Place 11.30am

One of our biggest groups is tackling tribal politics, social structures and symbolism, as they perform WIlliam Golding’s Lord of the Flies.

11-13s at Headington Baptist Church

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a new text for Drama Club, and our 11-13s are taking this classic comedy in their stride.

14-16s at Magdalen College School

Focusing on script work and their own directing skills, our MCS 14-16s have been working on Blue Remembered Hills.

14-16s at Headington Baptist Church

With a focus on characterisation, our Headington group have been fully inhabiting the wartime world of Blue Remembered Hills.

14-16s at John Mason School

Never ones to shy away from a challenge, our Tuesday group have adapted Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus into a school setting.

If you thought last term was ambitious, think again! From a Western tale of retribution to a classic of British comedy there are lots of firsts for us in the texts chosen by Drama Clubbers this term. There’s also chocolate factories, miserly old men and quite possibly Shakespeare’s most controversial play...

8-10s at John Mason School

With Tales from the Brothers Grimm as their chosen text, this group is doing lots of work on their physicality and becoming a whole host of fairytale characters

11-13s at John Mason School

One of our most innovative groups have chosen a classic of cinema (and literature) to adapt, as they bring the Western classic True Grit to life.
