Automatic QoS
Performance is placed at risk by the chaos of self-regulation
– Business-critical applications are forced to contend with everything else
Automatic QoS optimizes application performance, end-to-end
Configuration is simplified
– 3rd Party applications are handled as default
Gives tangible benefits to Avaya (ex-Nortel) VoIP Customers
– Applications & Networks are synchronized

Stackable Competitive Landscape
Limited PoE options means no future in the Converged world; no Stacking; very expensive per Port
Cisco places a lot of emphasis on Layer 3 at the Edge: this increases complexity, cost, & makes restoration more difficult
Cisco: 2960 & 3560 are standalone-only
ProCurve doesn’t offer any genuine Stacking, just consolidated Management
3Com products are more advanced, with real Stacking But the acquisition will ultimately force product
rationalization
HP ProCurve/3Com: Broad range offering typical but
unspectacular functionality; 3Com is more advanced but the acquisition complicates things
Layer 3 is strong across the board, however Juniper do not have any unique high-availability solution
Emphasis on L3 increases costs, complexity, and makes restoration more difficult
No Fast Ethernet-only offering; limiting deployment options Warranty is very uncompetitive
Juniper: EX 2200 & 3200 are Gigabit-only but also Standalone-
alone
